Enshrouded 1.0 Preview: What Returning Players Should Recheck Before October 15

Enshrouded reaches version 1.0 on October 15, 2026, but returning players have a more useful question than “Is it finally finished?” The practical question is what your group needs to recheck before everyone dives back into Embervale.

Keen Games has confirmed a skill-tree reset for 1.0, a higher level ceiling, a broad combat pass and a split console rollout. That makes this less like a routine patch night and more like a build meeting with swords. The good news is that the confirmed changes give returning groups a clear preparation list without pretending every launch unknown has already been settled.

Enshrouded 1.0 quick specs

Question Confirmed answer
When does 1.0 launch? October 15, 2026. Steam Early Access began January 24, 2024.
Which platforms launch that day? Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. Xbox Series X|S is planned for spring 2027.
How many players? Single-player or online co-op for up to 16 players on the current Steam listing.
What PC space is listed? 60 GB of storage. Steam lists 16 GB of RAM as the minimum and recommends an SSD.
What progression change is confirmed? The skill tree resets for 1.0. The player level cap rises to 50 and the gear cap to 55.

Those facts come from Keen Games' release-date announcement, its official 1.0 press release and the current Steam page. The storefront is the more current source for the 16-player specification; an older June press release still described eight-player co-op.

The reset is about builds, not a confirmed save wipe

Keen's September combat breakdown says every player's skill tree will reset because the tree itself has changed. That is a useful warning, but it is not the same thing as an announced wipe of characters, worlds or bases. No official source checked for this preview confirmed a broad save reset, so treating one as inevitable would turn a precise update into needless panic.

What is confirmed is substantial. The 1.0 update adds nine spells, including summons, plus 22 tier-7 Eternal spells. Wands gain heavy attacks and piercing options. Archers get three Eternal arrows, while targeting, movement, enemy variants and parts of the skill tree are also being revised. If your old character was built around a comfortable loop, expect to spend time rebuilding that loop instead of assuming every point goes back where it was.

The cleanest group plan is to leave the first session flexible. Decide who wants to tank, control crowds, handle ranged damage or experiment with the new magic kit after everyone can see the final tree. Committing every point before your usual party is assembled may save five minutes and create an evening of “Wait, who took the support skills?” That is a very Enshrouded way to turn administration into a miniboss.

Co-op groups should plan the host before the builds

The current Steam page advertises online co-op for as many as 16 players, but a maximum is not a scheduling system. Returning groups still need to decide who will host, which world everyone intends to use and whether the returning party wants to continue an established settlement or explore new 1.0 content together.

Keen says Enshrouded received eight major content updates during Early Access, including three added biomes and dynamic water. That history matters because a player returning from the 2024 launch window is not returning to the same map, building toolbox or combat balance. Before 1.0, compare where each person stopped rather than using “I played Early Access” as if it described one shared checkpoint.

This is also where the current unknowns matter. Keen's accessible launch material does not confirm cross-play or cross-save between PC and PlayStation 5. Until the studio publishes those details, do not build an October 15 reunion around an assumed platform bridge. PC groups can plan around the current Steam listing; mixed-platform groups should wait for an explicit compatibility answer.

October 15 is not the same launch for every platform

PC, PS5 and PS5 Pro are scheduled for October 15. Xbox Series X|S is not. Keen says that version is now planned for spring 2027 because it needs more development time. That delay makes the buying decision fairly simple for Xbox-only groups: there is no confirmed October edition to compare, and a calendar target is not a preorder product.

PlayStation players have a different gap. The official press release confirms PS5 and PS5 Pro, but the sources checked here do not confirm a physical edition, an upgrade route, cross-buy or cross-save. Collectors should wait for an actual physical announcement rather than treating the existence of a console version as proof that a disc is coming.

On PC, Steam currently lists the base game and the Original Soundtrack as the only DLC. It also shows a base-game-plus-soundtrack bundle and a separate bundle with Palworld. No paid gameplay expansion or season pass is listed on the official storefront checked for this article. The soundtrack is a music purchase, not a disguised content tier.

A sensible returning-player checklist

  • Confirm the platform. PC and PlayStation arrive October 15; Xbox is currently planned for spring 2027.
  • Leave room for the skill reset. Take screenshots of your current build if you want a reference, but expect the new tree to change the answer.
  • Check the installation. Steam lists 60 GB of storage, 16 GB of RAM minimum and an SSD recommendation.
  • Coordinate the group. Pick the host and shared world before assigning all the new combat roles.
  • Do not invent compatibility. Cross-play, cross-save and physical PS5 availability remain unconfirmed in the official sources checked.

Zypher's take: 1.0 is a reason to reassess, not erase

The most interesting part of Enshrouded 1.0 is not the ceremonial removal of an Early Access label. It is the combination of a mature building game with a combat system that asks returning players to make fresh decisions. A reset skill tree can be annoying when you only want to resume an old routine, but it also gives a co-op group permission to redistribute jobs without pretending the last two years of updates never happened.

Go into October 15 expecting a deliberate rebuild of your character plan, not a confirmed destruction of your world. PC and PlayStation groups have enough verified information to organize their return. Xbox groups and physical collectors still need clearer answers, and waiting for those answers is smarter than filling the gaps with wishful thinking.
