Gran Turismo 7's next free update is more than another small garage refresh. Sony's October 14 announcement confirms that Spec IV Part 1 adds Sportsland Sugo, six vehicles, new World Circuit events, Experience mode, new Car Viewer features, Scapes additions, and more.

The most important detail for anyone waiting on the download is the clock. Sony says the update becomes available free to all Gran Turismo 7 players at 11:00 p.m. PDT on October 14, which is October 15 at 7:00 a.m. BST and 3:00 p.m. JST. An internet connection is required for the update.

The six cars in Spec IV Part 1

  • Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo
  • Ferrari F355 Berlinetta '94
  • Honda Civic Si Group A '87
  • Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo '26
  • Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line '23
  • Citroën 2 CV 6 Charleston '86

The cars do not simply appear in your garage. Sony notes that credits, earned through progression or acquired through supported purchase options, are required to buy vehicles. If one model is the reason you are returning, check its in-game dealership and price after the update rather than assuming the whole six-car list is automatically granted.

Sportsland Sugo gives the update a new place to learn

The new circuit is Sportsland Sugo in Japan. That addition matters because the update is also introducing Experience mode and six new World Circuit events, giving the new content more structure than a track added only for free driving.

For returning players, the sensible order is simple: update first, look at the new events, then decide which cars are worth spending credits on. Buying every new vehicle before seeing where you actually want to race them is the fastest way to turn a free update into an expensive garage-cleaning exercise.

The limited Gran Turismo DualSense is separate

Sony also revealed a Gran Turismo Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller as part of the series' 30th-anniversary celebration. It has a recommended price of $84.99 in the US, with regional pricing also announced for Japan, Europe, and the UK.

Preorders begin October 22 at 10:00 a.m. local time through PlayStation Direct where available and participating retailers. Sony says the controller launches globally starting December 10. That hardware is not part of the free Spec IV update, so there is no reason to confuse the software rollout with the controller preorder schedule.

Want some older Gran Turismo on the shelf?

Zypher currently has earlier physical entries including Gran Turismo 2 for PlayStation and Gran Turismo 5 for PlayStation 3. Those are separate legacy releases, not substitutes for Gran Turismo 7 or the Spec IV update.
