A release date used to be a date. Now it can mean the campaign, a preorder perk, one mode, or the actual game. Very efficient, provided your hobby is calendar administration.

For October 19-25, 2026, the distinction matters most for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Final Fantasy Resonance and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort also have Thursday launches, while We Were Here Tomorrow brings a two-person puzzle option on Tuesday. These are selected releases worth checking, not a claim that we have listed every game arriving worldwide.

The week's shortlist

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4: October 23 full launch. PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Battle.net, Steam and Xbox on PC.
  • Final Fantasy Resonance: October 22. Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store.
  • Nintendo Switch Sports Resort: October 22. Nintendo Switch 2 only.
  • We Were Here Tomorrow: October 20. PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Dates here follow the publishers' announcements and US-facing listings checked October 19. A platform's local storefront remains the place to confirm its exact unlock time and edition before buying.

Modern Warfare 4: Friday is the full launch

Activision's launch announcement puts the complete release on Friday, October 23. Two earlier dates need separate labels: campaign early access started October 16, and DMZ early access starts October 20 for eligible digital Standard or Vault Edition preorders.

Those are purchase-linked early-access periods, not three interchangeable launch days. Activision also confirms that Modern Warfare 4 is not joining Game Pass at launch. Having a subscription and owning this release are different questions. For the mode itself, our Hajin and DMZ breakdown separates announced systems from our interpretation.

Thursday offers two very different commitments

Square Enix describes Final Fantasy Resonance as an HD-2D, turn-based RPG rebuilt from the first story arc of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. That makes the important distinction a new console-and-PC adaptation, rather than simply treating a mobile game's name as a compatibility guarantee.

The October 22 release includes both Switch generations, alongside PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the two listed PC storefronts. Check the version, not just the franchise logo. The logo has never agreed to do your homework.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort arrives the same day, but its Nintendo listing specifies Switch 2 exclusivity and 12 motion-controlled sports. It is not another original-Switch entry because the words look familiar. Our local-play preview covers the planning questions to ask before organizing an evening around it.

We Were Here Tomorrow: bring a partner who can describe a room

Total Mayhem Games' October 20 release takes its two explorers into Norček Industries. The publisher's Xbox listing describes asymmetric puzzles: players have different tools and information and must communicate over walkie-talkies. Knowing what your partner sees is part of the problem, not an optional bit of conversation between button presses.

The second screenshot makes that communication premise easier to picture: one explorer looks across machinery while another stands behind a window. “Over there” is an impressively unhelpful direction when two people have different views. Our advice is to agree on clear descriptions before the inevitable argument about which pipe somebody meant.

This is two-player online co-op, not a four-person couch substitute for Sports Resort. Console players should check the required online membership: PlayStation lists PS Plus as required, and Xbox also lists a paid console online-multiplayer requirement. Arrange the partner and the platform before arranging your heroic escape.

Calendar and platform requirements checked October 19, 2026. This is release planning, not hands-on verdicts or a promise of Zypher stock. Gameplay images above depict We Were Here Tomorrow only.
