Riders Republic is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on December 9, 2026, and Ubisoft is adding an offline option to every current platform on the same day. The Switch 2 port is the headline, but Nomad mode may be the more important long-term change. A live-service sports game is finally getting a way to keep riding when the network is unavailable.

Ubisoft announced the update alongside the game's fifth-anniversary plans. That timing is fitting. Birthday cosmetics come and go; offline access is the sort of present that still matters after the balloons have been put away.

The Switch 2 release is set for December 9

Ubisoft says the Switch 2 edition will arrive December 9. The announcement does not list a physical edition, price, frame-rate target or upgrade path, so none of those should be assumed yet. Players interested in the new version should wait for the exact regional storefront listing before deciding what it costs or how it is delivered.

The existing game remains available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Ubisoft Store, Steam and Epic Games Store, with Ubisoft+ also offered as an access route. The new platform does not replace those versions.

Nomad mode makes most solo content playable offline

Nomad mode is planned for December 9 on Switch 2 and all current platforms. Ubisoft says players will be able to explore the open world, progress through careers, discover landmarks and beauty spots, collect balloons and customize their character without an internet connection.

Progress made offline is supposed to reconcile with the online save after reconnecting. That is a useful promise for portable play, unstable connections and future maintenance windows. It is not the same as making the entire game offline.

What still requires a connection

Ubisoft specifically says the shop, season progression, sponsors, multiplayer modes and user-created events will remain online-only. In plain English, Nomad mode preserves a large solo playground, not the full live-service machine surrounding it.

That distinction matters for collectors. A disc or game card can preserve the software object, but it cannot guarantee access to servers, seasonal systems or user-generated events. Nomad mode gives the game a sturdier single-player fallback, which is much better than asking a future rider to admire a login screen.

The fifth anniversary starts before the port

The anniversary event runs from October 21 through November 4, with two weeks of developer-made events and separate ski and BMX rewards. Ubisoft is also holding a free weekend from October 22 through October 26 on supported current platforms.

An in-game Henri PFR concert begins October 22 and is scheduled to air twice daily for two weeks. Those limited-time activities are separate from the December Switch 2 release and offline update. Anyone returning only for the anniversary should not read the December features as already available.

What to verify before buying the Switch 2 version

  • Check the final Nintendo eShop listing for price, download size and supported languages.
  • Do not assume an existing Ubisoft or console purchase includes a Switch 2 entitlement.
  • Confirm whether the exact activity you want is available in Nomad mode or still needs a connection.
  • If cross-progression matters, wait for Ubisoft's account and save-transfer instructions for Switch 2.

The best part of this announcement is not that Riders Republic is finding another screen. It is that Ubisoft is giving the existing game a practical route through network outages and travel. The Republic will still have online gates, but on December 9 the single-player mountain should stop vanishing every time the internet takes a coffee break.
