Squadron 42 now has an official Steam page with a planned Q2 2027 release window. Players can add the single-player space adventure to a wishlist, but the listing does not yet show a price, editions or a purchase button.
The page appeared ahead of an October 10, 2026 report from PC Gamer. Steam identifies Cloud Imperium Games entities as the developers and Roberts Space Industries entities as the publishers. Its description promises ship and ground combat across locations including capital ships, stations and frontier outposts.
Treat the date as a planning window
Q2 covers April through June. It gives interested players a useful period to watch, but it does not identify a launch day. A wishlist can provide a storefront notification if availability changes. It is not a preorder, a price commitment or a guarantee that every missing commercial detail will arrive at once.
Anyone budgeting for the game should wait for three concrete answers: the regional price, the editions being sold and the treatment of purchases previously made through RSI. None is answered on the current Steam page. Until those policies are published, assumptions about ownership transfer could create an unnecessary double purchase.
The listing also requires a Roberts Space Industries account and says that account can link to Steam. That extra sign-in matters most to players who prefer to keep purchases and account recovery inside one platform. Before launch, check which company handles refunds, support tickets and account-linking problems. Those operational details can matter as much as the launcher used to install the game.
Use the PC requirements as an early checklist
The minimum specification currently lists 64-bit Windows 11, 16GB of RAM, an 8GB graphics card, broadband internet and 150GB of storage. Steam also lists DirectX 12. The recommended section is still empty.
Those numbers are enough to spot obvious barriers, not to predict performance. Storage capacity does not reveal download size or patch overhead, and a VRAM figure says little about expected resolution, frame rate or visual settings. Players considering an upgrade should wait for complete recommended specifications and independent tests on hardware close to their own.
There is also time to prepare without spending money. Confirm that Windows 11 support is practical for the current PC, leave headroom beyond the stated 150GB, and make sure the broadband connection can handle a large installation. If a new system is needed, comparing it against other games and daily workloads will produce a better purchase than building around one preliminary minimum list.
For now, the Steam page is most useful as a watch point. It makes the current release window and account requirement easy to find while leaving price, ownership transfer, detailed performance targets and the exact sale date unresolved.
