ZA/UM announced on October 15 that ZERO PARADES: Director’s Cut will come to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 3, 2026, the same day as its previously announced PlayStation 5 edition. The question for console players is what this version actually includes. It is the Director’s Cut from day one on both systems, rather than a base game followed by a separate content update.
The studio’s announcement, reproduced by RPG Site, confirms several control and presentation features but leaves some buying details open. The existing PC game is the reference point for the story and systems below; the images in this article come from ZA/UM’s PC-era press kit and are not captures of either console build.
What changes between Switch 2 and PS5?
On Switch 2, ZA/UM lists Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, touchscreen input and HD Rumble 2. That is a sensible set of options for a game built around inspecting places and working through long conversations. It gives players a way to point through the interface when they want it without making a claim about how well the controls feel before release.
For PS5, the stated features are DualSense adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and controller speaker support, plus 3D Audio and a 4K presentation. These are publisher specifications, not measurements from our own testing. ZA/UM has not supplied a full side-by-side performance comparison in the announcement, so a resolution or frame-rate promise for Switch 2 would be guesswork.

The Director’s Cut content is included on both consoles
ZA/UM says the Director’s Cut adds a new Dramatic Encounter, Backstage Mode, outfits, interface and accessibility improvements, revisions to the English voice work and roughly 40,000 words of new writing. Backstage Mode is described as a way to explore earlier versions of selected environments and hear development commentary. Existing PC owners received the Director’s Cut as a free upgrade, according to the studio; that does not establish a free console entitlement for PC buyers.
The underlying game remains an espionage role-playing adventure about Hershel Wilk, a burned-out operative recalled after an assignment went badly. ZA/UM describes talking skills, player conditioning, dice-driven dramatic encounters and a system in which failed rolls can open different routes. For someone arriving from Disco Elysium, the useful comparison is the emphasis on internal voices and consequential dialogue, not an assumption that the two games share a story or cast.
What to check before buying
- Date and platform: November 3, 2026 is the announced Switch 2 and PS5 launch date. The Director’s Cut is already available on PC.
- Edition: Both new console versions are announced as the Director’s Cut. No separate base-edition purchase is required by this announcement.
- Open questions: The announcement does not establish a physical edition, a Switch 2 upgrade path from another platform, regional pricing or final performance targets. Check the actual platform listing as launch approaches.
The new Switch 2 announcement matters because it adds a portable console route to a game that was already headed to PS5. The two versions advertise different input and presentation features, while the Director’s Cut story content is shared. That is a clearer basis for choosing a platform than treating the words “Director’s Cut” as a promise of an unannounced physical package.
