Helldivers 2's Scope of Authority Warbond Puts Squad Positioning First

Scope of Authority launches October 20 with sniper weapons and concealment armor. The useful question is how its precision gear fits a moving squad.

Helldivers 2's next Premium Warbond, Scope of Authority, launches October 20, 2026. Arrowhead's October 13 reveal gives squads a new reason to discuss who takes the long shot and who handles the enemies that get too close.

The base game, Super Credits and game progression are required to unlock it. The announcement leaves the Super Credit price and exact launch time unspecified, so those details remain worth checking before spending.

Pick the position before the weapon

Two armor sets, the light SS-33 Mimetic Marshal and medium SS-15 Focal Point, share Stationary Shroud. The passive reduces weapon sway and detection range while crouched or prone. That condition matters: the announced benefit depends on your stance.

Zypher XP's take: A squad's useful firing position is the one that covers its next move. A player overlooking a route could help teammates advance, but staying behind to chase distant targets could leave the objective team short of support. The interesting question is when everyone relocates, rather than how long one person can keep aiming.

Precision comes with a backup plan

The R-40 Sightliner is a primary bolt-action sniper rifle with armor-piercing rounds. The one-handed P-44 Mist machine pistol offers a different option when threats close the distance. Other announced tools include the backpack-fed AMW-20 Apex anti-materiel rifle with assisted reload, the charging LAS-44 Nova energy rifle, and G-11 Caltrops that scatter submunitions to slow and stun enemies.

Our reading of that equipment is a loadout built around creating enough room to take a deliberate shot. A coordinated group could agree on who watches a dangerous approach, who deals with nearby pressure and when to abandon a position. Those are tactical possibilities from the reveal, rather than results from hands-on testing.

The first test is whether it helps your team move

When the Warbond arrives, we would judge its equipment by how comfortably it fits a squad's normal pace. A successful distant shot is useful; reaching the next objective with everyone still able to help is a better measure of a complete loadout. Handling, damage thresholds and recovery under pressure need actual play before we can make a verdict.
