Phoenix Cyclops joins MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on November 2, 2026, as its first Year 1 Pass DLC fighter. Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamanaka announced the date on October 7. The Classic and Legacy costumes are due the same day. This is an upcoming character release, not a new launch of the base game.

The decision is when to spend the power

Yamanaka's official character breakdown describes an all-rounder with Optic Blast attacks and broad fire coverage. Using Optic Blasts builds Solar Shards; collecting four enables Dark Phoenix. That temporary boost also drains health.

Our reading: the interesting choice is not simply whether to transform, but whether the opportunity justifies the health cost. Bigger damage is an attractive promise; spending your own life makes the timing worth watching. This is an interpretation of the announced system, not a hands-on verdict or a claim about competitive strength.

A four-character team is not four people playing together

The current US PlayStation game page confirms PS5 and PC availability, cross-play, and teams of four. Each match still has two opposing players, each controlling a team. Local Versus and Training are among its offline modes; PS5 online play requires PlayStation Plus.

For a couch session, that distinction is useful before anyone brings three extra controllers. The format describes the roster you manage, not a four-player cooperative party. Our local multiplayer guide explains the broader difference between player counts and modes.

Check your edition before adding another pass

PlayStation lists the Year 1 Character and Stage Pass in both Digital Deluxe and Ultimate editions. The Standard edition listing does not include it. Check your existing purchase and account entitlements before buying additional content, rather than assuming every copy includes this fighter.

A costume announcement and a character entitlement are different information. This reveal gives the two costume names and their date; it should not be stretched into a promise about every edition's costume access. Our physical and digital ownership guide offers the wider collecting context.
