No Rest for the Wicked is planning a new class system built around the weapon you equip. Moon Studios revealed the overhaul in its October 16 Wicked Inside showcase, detailing 24 classes and the ability to carry traits between them as it works toward version 1.0.

The developer’s announcement, distributed by Neohype PR, describes a replacement for the attribute system that previously steered players toward particular styles. Picking up a weapon changes the character’s class. Across those classes, Moon lists 362 traits.

Changing weapons could mean changing your whole approach

The interesting question is what survives a switch. Bringing traits from one class into another suggests room to experiment beyond choosing a single weapon and staying with it. How freely those combinations work, and which trade-offs remain meaningful, will matter more than the headline count alone.

That is a reading of the announced design. The showcase establishes the planned systems; it does not by itself establish how every combination will perform in the finished game.

Factions and Cerim Cores add separate decisions

Moon also outlines six factions, each with its own questline, traits and vendors. Cerim Cores govern a different part of a build, offering effects such as health and stamina increases, attack-speed bonuses or lifesteal. Exceeding their capacity makes the character take more damage.

Those are three decisions to keep distinct: how a weapon shapes combat, which faction’s story to pursue, and how much risk to accept from Cores. A useful build should make sense across those choices, rather than relying on one impressive-looking bonus.

The road to 1.0 continues

The developer currently lists PC Early Access through Steam and a March 2027 version 1.0 plan for PC and PlayStation 5. This is coverage of the newly revealed systems, rather than an announcement that the full release is available today.
