Who will be the last warrior standing?

Test your skills against Dragon Ball Z's most powerful heroes and villains in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, Atari's Saiyan-slammin' 3D fighter.

The Dragon Ball Z phenomenon hits the GCN with Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, a high-flying, muscle-rippling 3D fighting game that draws on the popular anime style and voice acting of the beloved television series. Follow the DBZ animated series as you face off against a horde of superhuman combatants. Offering a unique brand of action, drama and quirky humor, the game is poised on the crest of the anime wave that continues to flood U.S. shores.

Features

  • Fight to the finish in five epic modes of play.
  • Battle against a friend or fine-tune your skills against a customizable computer-controlled opponent.
  • Create the most powerful fighter in the universe by customizing, unlocking and trading devastating skills with your friends.
  • Take the fighting action to the next level with the blazing speeds of Burst Mode.

From Goku to Nappa, a huge cast of heroes and villains battle for dominance. All of the fighters are keenly balanced to ensure a fair and ferocious fight, and each character features a unique skill set to keep the brawls interesting. In the Skill Shop, you can purchase new skill capsules and equip your fighter with them. Each fighter can only be equipped with a handful of skills at a time, so some element of strategy is involved with choosing the best combination of skill capsules.

In the story mode, Androids, aliens and Saiyans are all key ingredients as the Dragon Ball Z story spirals into the stratosphere with more plot twists than an episode of General Hospital during sweeps month. Fans of the series will be able to reenact famous DBZ moments!

Bottom Line

For fans of the series, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai delivers. The game faithfully recreates the over-the-top battles which have made DBZ so popular. Directing the awesome power of superhuman juggernauts is a dream come true for DBZ fans, and though the game will be not as satisfying for players unfamiliar with the series, it's still a solid fighting game that offers a unique blend of RPG-like skill management and intense one-on-one clashes.
