The Xbox and Steam window is March 2027. Here is what Bytten confirms about returning characters, online play and the platforms still awaiting precise launch details.

Cassette Beasts 2002 now has a March 2027 release window on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. Raw Fury confirmed that timing in its October 13 Xbox announcement, while the current Steam listing also gives March 2027. Neither source supplies a launch day.

For returning players, the more interesting detail is how the follow-up handles your starting point. Bytten Studio says you can import a character from the original Cassette Beasts, but newcomers can enter the new story without doing that. Bringing an old character along and needing an old save are different propositions.

Your old character is an option, not homework

The developer's current press kit places the adventure in London in 2002 and its strange counterpart, Nodnol. An occultist called Westerley connects the mystery across the two worlds. This is a new story rather than a notice that players must finish the first game's campaign before joining in.

That leaves an important practical question for anyone changing platforms: how will character import work? The pages checked for this article do not explain transfer routes between different systems. Keep an original save if you want the option, but do not assume that a particular console-to-PC move is supported. Our game-save feature explains why the save and the game purchase deserve separate attention.

A group adventure with a solo route

The official game page confirms single-player and online play. The press kit currently lists one local player and one to eight online, with friends able to trade tapes, record creatures and join story battles. That is not a promise of eight people sharing one console. Our local-multiplayer feature covers that distinction.

Creature transformation and fusion return, alongside an alchemy system that can alter battle effects and elemental types. Bytten also describes rogue beasts that adapt to your techniques and return for another encounter. The appealing idea is a collection that can create new tactical problems, not just another checklist to fill. How well those systems interact remains a question for the finished game; this is announcement coverage, not a review.

What the March window does and does not cover

The October statement specifically confirms Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. Steam independently lists the same month. The developer also lists PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 as planned platforms, but its press-kit factsheet still says TBA for release timing. Do not turn the Xbox announcement into a guaranteed simultaneous launch across every system.

For now, follow the listing for the platform you intend to use. The month is useful for planning; an exact date, detailed save-import instructions and a confirmed platform-specific launch are the next details worth checking before buying.
