Valuing a large video game collection is different from looking up one expensive game. A collection may contain hundreds of common titles, a handful of high-value games, consoles, accessories, duplicates, incomplete copies, and items in several different conditions.

Step 1: Separate by platform

Start by grouping games into systems such as PS2, GameCube, Xbox 360, Nintendo 64, Switch, and so on. This makes it easier to identify valuable titles and prevents duplicates from being missed.

Step 2: Separate condition types

For disc games, note whether each copy is Complete in Box, Game & Case, Custom Case, or Disc Only. For cartridges, note whether they are loose or complete. Do not assume two copies of the same title have the same value if one is complete and the other is missing most of its packaging.

Step 3: Pull out unusual or collector-heavy titles

RPGs, horror games, first-party Nintendo releases, late-generation releases, special editions, lower-print titles, and expensive cartridge games deserve closer attention. Common annual sports titles and mass-market releases can usually be processed more quickly.

Step 4: Check authenticity

Retro cartridges, especially high-value Nintendo handheld games, should be checked for reproductions. Counterfeit games should not be valued as genuine copies.

Step 5: Inventory consoles and accessories

Record console model numbers, cables, controllers, memory cards, docks, chargers, adapters, and other hardware. Missing required parts can change hardware value substantially.

Step 6: Decide whether you want maximum gross price or convenience

Listing everything individually can produce more gross revenue on some items, but it also means photography, descriptions, marketplace fees, shipping supplies, customer service, fraud exposure, returns, and a much longer selling process.
