Rainbow Six Mobile will remain playable until January 15, 2027, and then Ubisoft plans to sunset it. The company announced the decision on October 8, only months after the game reached its worldwide launch on February 24. Ubisoft also says the next season will still arrive as planned next week.
That gives current players a defined final date, but the announcement leaves several practical questions unanswered. Ubisoft has not yet explained how purchases, unused currency, account data or access to the game will be handled as shutdown approaches. The company says more transition updates will come in the weeks ahead.

What Ubisoft confirmed
In its official shutdown notice, Ubisoft states that Rainbow Six Mobile stays available until January 15, 2027. A new season is still scheduled for next week, and Ubisoft says it will share more details about the transition later.
The notice also says the development team is moving to other long-term strategic projects. That is the only official explanation supplied. It does not establish a budget, sales result, player count or single cause for the shutdown, so none of those should be treated as confirmed.
Rainbow Six Mobile spent time in soft launch beginning in 2023 and reached 15 seasons before the worldwide release. At global launch, Ubisoft described it as a free-to-play iOS and Android version of Rainbow Six's five-versus-five tactical formula, with Attack and Defend rounds, operators, destructible environments, ranked play and Team Deathmatch.

What players should do before January 15
The game is still available for now, and one more season is coming. Players do not need to treat the announcement as an immediate server closure. They should, however, keep an eye on Ubisoft's next update rather than assume every system will operate normally until the final minute.
- Save purchase records. Keep platform receipts for any paid items. This does not guarantee a refund, but it preserves the clearest record of what was bought.
- Capture the account details that matter to you. Screenshots of progression, cosmetics and rankings may be the only personal record left if Ubisoft does not provide an export.
- Wait for official guidance before spending more. Ubisoft has not yet published transition terms for currency, purchases or refunds.
- Watch for delisting and download details. The October 8 notice gives a service end date, but it does not spell out when new downloads or store transactions might stop.
The unanswered ownership problem
Rainbow Six Mobile is a live online game, so its shutdown is also a preservation problem. Ubisoft's notice does not announce an offline version, a local mode, a data export or a post-shutdown museum build. It also does not say whether the client will launch after January 15.
For players, that means the safest conclusion is narrow: the game remains available through the stated date, and its long-term playability is unconfirmed. For collectors, there is no physical copy that can preserve the service by itself. Screenshots, recordings made under normal platform rules and saved account records may become the most tangible remnants of a game that otherwise lives on Ubisoft's servers.

Zypher's read: the date matters more than speculation
The surprising part is the short distance between the worldwide launch and the shutdown announcement. It is tempting to fill that gap with a neat explanation, but Ubisoft has not supplied enough evidence for one. The useful story today is the deadline and the missing transition details.
That puts the next move on Ubisoft. Players need direct answers about purchases, remaining currency, account data, downloads and whether any part of the game survives offline. Until those answers arrive, January 15 should be treated as a real end-of-service date, not a vague warning.

Players who want Rainbow Six on media they can keep have older console options. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 for Xbox 360 offers the series' squad-based action in a conventional console release. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 for Xbox goes further back into the franchise's methodical tactical roots. Product pages show current condition options and availability.
