Jack Pepper has taken a case in a neighborhood with an unreasonable number of circular saws. The detective from MOUSE: P.I. For Hire joins Super Meat Boy 3D as a playable guest in the October 19 update, according to the game’s official Steam announcement.
The crossover turns Pepper into a compact character for Meat Boy’s platforming world. The useful distinction is the game you will actually be playing: this is a guest-character addition to Super Meat Boy 3D, where navigating obstacles is still the assignment.
A detective enters the obstacle course
The announcement identifies Pepper as a playable character and links a trailer showing his appearance. It does not describe a new investigation campaign or promise that MOUSE’s weapons and systems carry across. Treat it as a new character to take through the platformer’s challenges.
That is enough of a reason to look if you enjoy crossovers whose appeal is seeing a familiar figure cope with somebody else’s rules. Pepper’s noir presentation is a very different flavor from the bright industrial hazards in the base game’s screenshots. The saws remain admirably uninterested in celebrity guests.

The patch also has practical additions
The Steam changelog lists DLSS, FSR, controller vibration and fixes alongside the guest character. PC players have a reason to revisit their settings after updating. The notes do not specify a performance gain, so there is no supported frame-rate promise to attach to those additions.
The earlier October 13 teaser described the coming update as covering all platforms. The DLSS and FSR entries above come from the PC announcement; check the options on your own version rather than assuming every platform exposes the same settings.
Super Meat Boy 3D’s official store description centers on three-dimensional precision platforming, hazards, wall jumps and boss encounters. If you are deciding whether the crossover changes the game’s basic appeal, that remains the more useful description than the guest’s name alone.
