A Way Out
About the Game
A Way Out turns a prison escape into a shared adventure built around communication, trust, and coordinated action. You and a partner control Leo and Vincent, two inmates whose paths become intertwined as they plan their escape and face the dangers waiting beyond the prison walls. The entire experience is designed for cooperation, with each player actively taking part in the story.
Story & Setting
Leo's impulsive nature and Vincent's more measured approach give the partnership its tension. Their escape is the beginning of a larger journey through pursuit, personal stakes, and difficult encounters. Conversations and quieter moments let you get to know both men, while action sequences keep their fragile alliance under pressure. The story works through their different perspectives without requiring either player to sit out the adventure.
Gameplay & Core Systems
Progress depends on working together through changing situations. Stealth, environmental puzzles, close-range fights, shootouts, and vehicle chases ask you to coordinate your actions rather than repeat a single combat routine. One character may create an opening while the other completes a task, and successful teamwork means paying attention to both sides of the scene. The game also makes room for lighter activities, including fishing and other small diversions that give the journey a more personal rhythm.
Cooperative Design
Split-screen presentation lets you follow your own character while seeing what your partner is doing. The framing shifts to suit the scene, keeping separate actions connected within the same unfolding moment. Local and online cooperative play use this shared storytelling approach; a second player is required, because the campaign is built around an active partnership.
