All-Star Baseball 2000
1999 Major League Baseball on Nintendo 64
All-Star Baseball 2000 brings the 1999 Major League Baseball season to Nintendo 64 with all 30 clubs, authentic players, team uniforms, and home ballparks. Developed by Iguana Entertainment and published by Acclaim, it builds its presentation around motion-captured swings, throws, catches, and fielding animations. Broadcast-style commentary from John Sterling and Michael Kay accompanies the action, giving each game a distinctly late-1990s television feel.
Batting, Pitching, and Field Strategy
At the plate, a movable contact cursor makes timing and placement matter. You can anticipate a pitch's location and type for a larger hitting target, but a wrong guess shrinks the target and raises the risk of weak contact or a miss. The cursor can also be angled to influence whether the ball is driven into the air, hit on the ground, or directed toward a chosen side of the field. Pitching, base running, and defense complete the simulation, while instant replay lets you examine close plays from different angles.
Season and Roster Depth
Four core modes provide different ways to play: Exhibition, Season, Playoffs, and Home Run Derby. Season play includes a full 162-game interleague schedule or the complete 1999 MLB schedule. Roster tools allow you to create players, adjust lineups, and draw from a minor-league pool, making the long-form modes about team management as well as on-field execution.
Local Play and N64 Accessories
One to four players can compete locally in supported modes. A Controller Pak is used to preserve season statistics and created players, and the game supports the Rumble Pak for feedback during play. The Expansion Pak is optional: high-resolution graphics are available without it, while installing one enables longer instant replays. With its deliberate batting system, licensed roster, and full-season structure, All-Star Baseball 2000 is designed for players who want a detailed N64 baseball simulation rather than a quick arcade treatment.
