Step into an original animated Batman episode
Batman: Vengeance builds a new Gotham mystery around the style and cast of the animated television series. The opening appears to end with the Joker falling from a bridge, but a widening crime wave and clues left behind force Batman to question what really happened. Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy enter the conspiracy while Batgirl supplies information from the Batcave, turning the campaign into a sequence of investigations, rescues and confrontations.
Patrol Gotham from multiple viewpoints
Most exploration uses a third-person view. Batman runs, jumps, glides with his cape and presses against walls to look around corners or approach enemies quietly. First-person aiming takes over when a gadget needs precision. Batarangs strike distant targets, the Batgrapple reaches elevated points, and tools such as flash bombs, remote charges, cuffs, nets and the Batscope solve specific obstacles or create an opening before combat.
Mix hand-to-hand combat with gadgets
Close encounters shift attention to punches, kicks, charged combinations and special moves learned through progress. Rooms often combine thugs at different heights with traversal and gadget cues, so the path through a fight is not limited to standing in one place and trading hits. Some situations instead ask Batman to defuse a bomb through a puzzle interface, chase the Joker across rooftops or catch a falling civilian during a free-fall rescue.
Drive, fly and investigate between fights
The Batmobile provides street chases while the Batplane carries the action above Gotham. These vehicle segments break up the on-foot stages without replacing the core action-adventure structure. Story clues, villain encounters and Batgirl's communications connect the different play styles, and frequent checkpoints in the narrative keep the experience moving like an interactive television story.
Animated-series atmosphere on GameCube
Rendered cutscenes use bold shapes and dramatic framing modeled on the television series, with familiar voice performances supporting the illusion of a playable episode. Period GameCube review coverage found the port close to the PlayStation 2 version but with minor visual improvements. It also noted that combat is deliberately straightforward, which helps distinguish the game from a modern free-flow Batman brawler.
