Enter Harry's fourth year at Hogwarts
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for Nintendo DS follows Harry, Ron and Hermione through the Triwizard Tournament storyline. Harry has been entered into the dangerous competition despite being underage, and the three friends must face magical hazards, creatures and puzzles while the mystery around the tournament grows. The handheld version presents the adventure from a top-down perspective and adapts events from the book and film into compact action-and-puzzle scenarios.
Cast spells and solve environmental puzzles
Combat and exploration revolve around a small set of spells with different uses. A ranged spell can strike enemies from a distance, while stream-style magic such as Wingardium Leviosa is directed with the Control Pad to manipulate objects in the environment. Some obstacles call for more than individual power: Harry can enlist Ron and Hermione to strengthen a spell, tying the three-character premise directly to puzzle solving and combat encounters.
Progress through story scenarios
The campaign moves from one scenario to the next as the trio deals with the tournament and the threats surrounding it. Success depends on recognizing which spell fits an obstacle, keeping enemies at a manageable distance and coordinating stronger magic when the situation demands it. The structure is focused on advancing through the story rather than an open Hogwarts simulation, so each area has a defined challenge and objective.
Care for a Niffler on Nintendo DS
The DS edition includes a separate Niffler activity designed around the system's touch features. Players can feed the creature, clean it and offer toys, then respond to its changing mood. Good care makes the Niffler happier and eventually allows additional interaction. This bonus activity provides a quieter change of pace from the main action-adventure campaign.
Solo adventure and local multiplayer
The story is a one-player experience. The exact DS release also supports two-player wireless multi-card competition in free-for-all or one-on-one play. A second cartridge and compatible Nintendo DS system are therefore needed for the documented two-player mode. Stylus input is supported, and the saved release record also lists the DS microphone or headset among supported input features.
