Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure

Nintendo DS

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure gives the Nintendo DS two jobs at once: the upper screen hosts a fast, colorful action-platformer, while the Touch Screen contains a rising match-three puzzle board. The two halves are not separate diversions. Every enemy Henry knocks out of the action world drops into the Puzzle Realm below, and any creature left there too long can climb back into the upper screen stronger than before. Clearing its block finishes the job, charges Henry's systems, and turns puzzle decisions into immediate advantages during the next stretch of platforming.

A Gentleman’s Expedition

Henry Hatsworth begins as the highest-ranked member of the Pompous Adventurers’ Club, searching a jungle for a legendary golden hat. Finding it opens a path to the Puzzle Realm and starts a race for the pieces of a magical suit. Rival adventurers, eccentric bosses, ruins, swamps, floating islands, and other increasingly dangerous locations carry the story through five worlds and 35 stages. Alternate exits lead to hidden levels, where rare gems and additional artifacts reward careful exploration rather than a straight run to the goal.

Action Above, Strategy Below

On the upper screen, Henry runs, jumps, swings his sword, launches ranged attacks, and uses directional techniques such as an uppercut and ducking strike. Defeated enemies, assistance blocks, and power-ups feed the Puzzle Realm. Pressing X shifts control to the lower screen, where adjacent blocks are swapped into groups of three or more. Chains build Henry’s Super Meter quickly, while matched assistance blocks can create platforms or alter hazards back in the action stage. Puzzle power-ups supply health, extra lives, area damage, double damage, or time-freezing effects, so a strong chain can rescue a difficult fight as effectively as precise platforming.

Power, Upgrades, and Tea Time

The magical hat grants silver hearts and a younger, tougher form while the Super Meter is charged. Fill the meter again and Tea Time becomes available, placing Henry inside an invulnerable steampunk robot suit with heavier attacks for a limited period. Standard energy shots, bombs, and boomerangs expand the ranged arsenal as the adventure continues; matching blocks after firing can even strengthen an attack already moving through the upper screen. Treasures found in stages can be spent at Cole’s shop on lasting upgrades, and the artifact wall records abilities earned along the route.

Built for Solo Nintendo DS Play

This is a single-player Nintendo DS Game Card release. It supports traditional button controls for action and puzzle movement, with optional stylus control on the puzzle screen. Three save slots are provided, and progress saves automatically after a completed location. No online connection, server access, multiplayer partner, or separate accessory is required; play needs a compatible system that accepts Nintendo DS Game Cards. The North American release is rated E for Everyone with Cartoon Violence.

Why It Stands Apart

Rather than alternating between unrelated mini-games, Henry Hatsworth makes platforming, combat, puzzle management, resource charging, and exploration part of one continuous system. Players who enjoy demanding 2D action gain another layer of tactical control, while match-three fans get a board whose consequences reach far beyond score chasing. Its theatrical villains, formal British humor, escalating challenge, optional secrets, and mechanical back-and-forth give this cartridge a distinct identity within the Nintendo DS library.
