High School Musical 3: Senior Year
Build East High's final-year scrapbook
High School Musical 3: Senior Year for Nintendo DS follows Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, Chad and Taylor through East High's last big season together. Basketball, prom, the spring musical and graduation frame a rhythm game whose rewards fill a personal Wildcat yearbook. This is the DS-specific release developed by Griptonite Games—not the console Senior Year DANCE! game—and its touch-driven play, quizzes and portable music features are built around the handheld hardware.
Catch each melody with touch and button timing
The main Music Game sends melody lines toward a rotating pinwheel on the upper screen. Move the stylus around the Touch Screen to align the pinwheel with each line and keep the center marker smiling. Junior Varsity provides the simpler foundation; Varsity and All-Star add a simultaneous button press as notes reach the center. The Control Pad supports right-handed play, while the face buttons provide the mirrored option for left-handed players.
Short challenges interrupt the music without warning. Basketball Tap asks you to hit balls as they meet their hoops, Spinning Flower Bubble Catch pairs colored bubbles with matching traps, and Melody Dropper rewards precise taps when an orb's timing ring changes color. Quizzes use touch or buttons to match your answers with a Wildcat personality, creating a second style of play between rhythm stages.
Progression, photos and the Yearbook
Story advances across a game board. Songs and quizzes unlock in sequence, and both award photos, autographs and memorabilia. The Yearbook turns those collectibles into pages for East High's seniors; stars flag newly earned items, and a Report Card tracks your compatibility with the characters. During music play, the L or R button takes a photo, connecting the performance system to the scrapbook theme instead of treating the Yearbook as a simple menu.
- Play Story: complete Music Games and quizzes to unlock the next event and earn Yearbook prizes.
- Yearbook: review collected photos, autographs and memorabilia.
- Jukebox: build a playlist from ten favorite unlocked songs, use shuffle, or listen through headphones with the DS closed.
- Multiplayer: host or join a nearby BFF Quiz session for up to four players.
Local multiplayer and retired online features
Nearby multiplayer uses DS Multi-Card Play. Every participant needs a Nintendo DS-family system and a copy of the game; the BFF Quiz then compares how well friends know one another and which characters fit them. The original menu also exposed the now-retired DGamer service, whose historical functions covered avatars, achievements, gifts and chat. That network functionality should be treated as historical: Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connection service for Nintendo DS software was discontinued, so DGamer is not a currently playable online feature. This does not prevent the offline modes or direct nearby Multi-Card session from working.
