Hotel for Dogs
Hotel for Dogs turns the 2009 family movie into a Nintendo DS adventure about giving a growing pack of strays a safe place to stay. Andi and Bruce have found an abandoned hotel, but keeping it running means much more than opening the doors. You explore the building and nearby areas, bring lost dogs back to safety, meet each animal's needs, and stay one step ahead of the dogcatcher.
Rescue, care, and improve the hotel
The main loop combines light exploration with pet-care tasks. Dogs need attention through activities such as feeding, petting, cleaning, grooming, and play. Those interactions are tied to the larger goal of keeping the animals healthy, content, and hidden inside their improvised home. New objectives send you through the hotel's rooms and beyond its walls to locate dogs, find useful objects, and solve the next practical problem facing the shelter.
Progress is arranged across ten levels, each with goals that move the movie-inspired story forward. The structure is approachable, but the game gives players several kinds of jobs instead of repeating a single care routine: search the environment, collect specified parts, assemble a solution, then use it to help the dogs or protect the hotel. Characters and dogs from the film provide the setting, while the game focuses on the work required to turn the abandoned property into a functioning canine refuge.
Build gadgets for the dogs
Bruce's inventions are a central part of play. You search for parts and tools, return to the workshop, and build more than a dozen contraptions designed for the hotel's unusual residents. These devices support the care and protection of the dogs rather than serving as simple collectibles. The result is a blend of hidden-object searching, straightforward construction puzzles, and virtual-pet management.
- Explore hotel rooms and outdoor locations to rescue additional dogs.
- Feed, clean, groom, pet, and play with the canine residents.
- Find parts and tools for more than a dozen useful gadgets.
- Complete ten story-driven levels while avoiding the dogcatcher.
Nintendo DS play and current requirements
This is the North American Nintendo DS version, developed by FarSight and published by 505 Games. It is a single-player cartridge game with touch-screen interactions alongside standard Nintendo DS controls. No online account, server connection, downloadable campaign, or current subscription is required for the documented game experience. A Nintendo DS-family system with a working DS Game Card slot is required; a stylus is useful for touch-screen play.
The ESRB rates the game E for Everyone with Comic Mischief. Its rating summary describes an adventure centered on adopting and caring for dogs, including feeding, petting, and cleaning. The tone and objectives are designed around family-friendly animal care, exploration, and gadget-building rather than competitive or combat-heavy play.
