I Love Horses
I Love Horses is a Nintendo DS horse-care simulation set around Greenhill Ranch. Instead of treating the horse as a simple collectible, the game connects daily care, touch-screen training, ranch exploration, and short competitive activities into one accessible routine. Players customize a horse, build trust through attention and practice, then take that partner into events spread across the ranch.
Life at Greenhill Ranch
The ranch acts as the hub for the experience. An overhead view helps you move between the stable, riding areas, and activity locations, while the individual tasks shift attention to the horse itself. Care is part of progression: grooming, feeding, and training are not detached menu options but recurring jobs that prepare the horse for more demanding events. The structure suits short DS sessions because a player can complete a care task or mini-game, save progress, and return to a longer training goal later.
More than 20 ranch activities vary the pace. Exact-release descriptions and ESRB notes identify timed trick routines, carrot harvesting, pattern-recognition exercises, obstacle and agility work, river dashes, hide-and-seek, races, and even a horse-choir activity. The collection mixes reflex tasks with memory and observation, so success is not limited to a single racing mechanic.
Touch-Screen Care and Training
The stylus is central to the intended design. It is used for hands-on interactions such as grooming and training, while the DS buttons support navigation and movement where appropriate. Visual prompts, timers, targets, and pattern cues make each activity readable on the two-screen system. The result is closer to a virtual-pet and mini-game hybrid than a detailed equestrian-management simulator.
- Customize a horse and build a routine around care, practice, and ranch events.
- Use the touch screen for direct grooming, training, and activity interactions.
- Play more than 20 tasks that include races, tricks, memory challenges, harvesting, agility, and ranch games.
- Save favorite moments to the in-game photo album as the horse advances.
Progression and Solo Play
Better performances open additional content and give the training loop a clear purpose. The game encourages repeated practice with the same horse rather than constant character swapping, so improvement comes from learning each activity and completing the ranch's challenges. Contemporary exact-platform coverage documents no multiplayer mode, and no online feature is required for progression. This is a self-contained single-player cartridge experience.
Before You Play
This listing is for the North American standard Nintendo DS release, product code NTR-YWDE-USA and UPC 828068212773. It is rated E for Everyone with no content descriptors and no ESRB interactive elements. A Nintendo DS-family system capable of running original DS cartridges and a stylus are required for the intended control scheme. No current server, account, or internet connection is needed. The exact day-level North American release date remains held because authoritative catalog sources disagree, but all reviewed evidence places this edition in 2009.
