MechAssault
About the Game
MechAssault is the Xbox's first 'Mech game, and is also one of the first games to fully support Xbox Live. As the title suggests, players take control of a variety of BattleMechs, each of varying size and performance.
Gameplay & Core Systems
The bigger 'Mechs lumber about but have increased armor and more weapon capacity, while the smaller 'Mechs are faster, yet can not dish out or take much damage. Buildings, cities, cars, and of course, enemies. MechAssault has a campaign mode that takes players through various levels, as well as 8-player multiplayer in System Link mode. It was also meant to allow downloading items in the future, such as additional 'Mechs and weapons, all handled through the Xbox interface.
Standout Features
- Bringing new meaning to the words "mass destruction", practically anything in the game can be blown up.
- Xbox Live: The game's Xbox Live support allows browsing the friends list to see who's online, as well as full voice chat capabilities.
Presentation & Atmosphere
Audio support includes Dolby Digital.
