Medal of Honor
The original Medal of Honor
Medal of Honor brings its World War II first-person action to the original PlayStation. Play as Jimmy Patterson, an American operative carrying out missions behind enemy lines. The campaign combines firefights with assignments that ask you to infiltrate locations, gather information, sabotage equipment and complete a defined set of objectives before moving on.
Each mission gives the action a purpose beyond simply reaching the far end of a level. Paying attention to documents, doors, enemy positions and the layout of a facility helps you work out what needs to be done. Some situations reward a direct assault, while others ask for a more careful approach as you search for the next objective.
Period weapons and a cinematic musical presentation establish the game's wartime atmosphere. The original PlayStation setting also gives it a particular pace and feel, making it an interesting starting point for players exploring the series' history. Learning a level and improving the way you handle its encounters provide reasons to return after a first attempt.
Alongside the single-player campaign, two-player split-screen competition offers a separate local way to play with another person. A second controller is required for that mode.
