WCW vs. NWO World Tour
WCW and NWO Collide on Nintendo 64
WCW vs. NWO World Tour introduced Nintendo 64 players to AKI’s measured wrestling system, where success comes from controlling distance, choosing the right strike or grapple, and managing momentum. The roster brings together WCW and NWO stars with fictional wrestlers inspired by international promotions, providing more than 40 competitors with distinct sizes, styles, and move sets.
Matches use a straightforward foundation: strikes handle quick attacks, grapples open a wider set of throws and holds, and stronger moves require better positioning and momentum. Reversals and submissions keep control from becoming automatic, while ringside weapons and interference can add disorder when the selected rules allow it. The result is accessible enough for a first match but deep enough to reward learning an individual wrestler.
Several Match Formats
Single-player options include league-style progression and tournament competition. Exhibition play covers singles and tag-team bouts, and the battle royal format supports multiple wrestlers in the ring. Local multiplayer accommodates as many as four players on one console, making the game especially well suited to shared competitive sessions.
The visual presentation captures WCW’s faction-driven era with recognizable wrestlers, entrances, arenas, and stable affiliations. Its pacing is more deliberate than an arcade brawler, giving each knockdown, counter, and momentum swing room to matter.
