World Driver Championship
About World Driver Championship
World Driver Championship is a simulation-leaning Nintendo 64 racer built around earning a place among increasingly demanding teams. The Championship mode begins in the GT2 class, where results improve your world ranking and attract offers from new teams. Each contract changes the cars available to you, and progress eventually opens the faster GT1 class. That structure gives every event a purpose beyond a single finish line: clean laps, consistency and the right team move all contribute to a longer racing career.
Driving and Progression
Cars differ in acceleration, top speed, braking and cornering behavior, so success depends on more than memorizing a course. Braking before a turn, choosing a useful racing line and managing traction matter, especially when moving into stronger machinery. Multiple camera views and automatic or manual transmission settings let players tune the presentation and control style. The game also supports the Nintendo 64 Rumble Pak, while a Controller Pak is used for saved progress.
Modes
Championship is the main progression path, but Quick Race makes it easy to practice or run a focused session. Its options include Practice, Arcade and Time Attack, with Time Attack emphasizing clean laps against recorded performance. Training introduces the handling model without risking championship standing. A two-player Versus mode provides direct local competition on a shared screen.
Developed by Boss Game Studios and published by Midway for Nintendo 64, this North American release pairs technical driving with a clear team-and-ranking system. It is best suited to players who enjoy improving lap craft and unlocking opportunities over time rather than relying on item-based shortcuts.
