About the Game
Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 is an arcade-style BMX game built around large riding areas, trick combinations, and a career path called ProQuest. Players choose from a roster of professional riders, including Dave Mirra, Ryan Nyquist, Mike Laird, and Colin Mackay, then complete location-specific goals to advance. The GameCube release expands the course selection beyond the original PlayStation 2 version, bringing the total to ten levels.
Tricks, Challenges & Progression
The trick system covers vert, street, dirt, and park riding. Grinds, wall rides, manuals, lip tricks, spins, and grabs can be linked into longer lines, with balance and landing control determining whether a run scores or collapses into a bail. Pro riders found throughout each level provide objectives such as high-score targets, long grinds, large gaps, and specified trick sequences. Completing those challenges opens new areas, riders, equipment, and sponsor-related rewards.
A park editor offers a separate creative loop, letting players choose a setting and arrange ramps, rails, and other objects into a custom course. Free Ride is useful for learning a level or testing lines without the same pressure as a scored objective.
GameCube Multiplayer
One or two players can play offline, with the two-player options offering multiple competitive BMX game types. No online service is required. Developed by Z-Axis and published by Acclaim Entertainment, the North American GameCube release arrived on November 18, 2001 and is rated T for Teen. Its mix of open-ended levels, demanding ProQuest goals, extensive trick combinations, and course creation gives it a longer progression arc than a simple race-focused cycling game.
