About the Game
GoldenEye: Rogue Agent casts the player as a former MI6 operative recruited by Auric Goldfinger after a confrontation costs him an eye. Rather than replaying the film GoldenEye, the game builds an alternate Bond-villain crossover where familiar enemies compete for control of the criminal underworld. Missions move through fortified bases, industrial complexes and other lairs while the agent pursues Dr. No and adapts to the experimental golden eye that replaces his lost one.
Weapons & GoldenEye Powers
The campaign is a first-person shooter centered on aggressive movement and flexible weapon handling. One-handed firearms can be dual-wielded in different combinations, while two-handed weapons trade that versatility for heavier firepower. A free hand can throw grenades or seize an enemy as a shield. The cybernetic GoldenEye gains abilities over the course of the story, including seeing through cover, disrupting electronics and weapons, deflecting gunfire and using magnetic force against opponents. These powers consume energy, so deciding when to scan, defend or attack becomes part of each encounter.
GameCube Multiplayer
Story missions award performance-based tokens that unlock additional multiplayer characters, maps and rule variations. The Nintendo GameCube edition supports one to four players locally through split-screen deathmatch and team-style competition; online play belonged to other console versions and is not promised for this listing. The campaign and local multiplayer are fully offline. Developed by EA Los Angeles and published by Electronic Arts, this North American GameCube release arrived on November 22, 2004. The ESRB rates it T for Teen for Suggestive Themes and Violence.
