About the Game
Medal of Honor: Frontline follows Lieutenant Jimmy Patterson through World War II in a first-person campaign that begins with the Normandy landing and moves into covert operations behind German lines. Patterson’s wider assignment is to infiltrate the enemy frontline and capture the experimental HO-IX flying wing. The campaign combines large battlefield scenes with sabotage and infiltration, changing the pace as you move between open fighting and more isolated assignments.
Combat & Mission Objectives
You fight from Patterson’s viewpoint with period weapons, including pistols, rifles, and explosives. Each mission gives the shooting a specific purpose: reach a position, deal with enemy troops, or complete a sabotage task. Choosing an appropriate weapon for the area and watching enemy positions help you progress through the level.
Some sections place you beside Allied soldiers, while others leave Patterson operating alone. Infiltration introduces a different kind of tension, including missions where identification and a disguise let you get past the enemy. That variety makes the campaign more than a continuous sequence of firefights, with objectives that change how you approach each setting.
From Normandy to Enemy Territory
The opening beach assault establishes the scale of the war through shelling, gunfire, wreckage, and soldiers moving through the landing. Later assignments include sabotaging a German U-boat, fighting around the Nijmegen Bridge, and infiltrating a weapons facility. The campaign’s route takes Patterson through occupied Europe as the experimental aircraft becomes the central target.
The levels also change their physical setting, with farmland, damaged urban streets, interiors, and a moving train. Completing their objectives advances the campaign from one assignment to the next. Progress means working through the new assignment, learning its combat situations, and carrying out the objectives that open the route onward.
GameCube Multiplayer
The GameCube edition adds head-to-head split-screen multiplayer for up to four players. Pick an Allied or Axis soldier and compete on the same system, using the game’s World War II weapons in a local match. This is a separate competitive mode alongside the single-player campaign.
The multiplayer option gives you a shorter way to play with other people between campaign sessions, while the story missions remain focused on Patterson’s assignments. The competition uses a shared screen split into separate views, so the other players are with you at the console.
Atmosphere & GameCube Play
The game builds its atmosphere through battle sound, soldiers’ voices, and an orchestral score. The opening landing uses nearby gunfire and explosions to establish urgency, while quieter assignments shift the setting and pace. Its environments include small objects and interior details that make occupied buildings and damaged streets feel like places Patterson is moving through.
The original North American GameCube release supports Dolby Surround audio. Saving uses a GameCube memory card, with 4 blocks listed on the packaging. The game offers selectable control configurations for its first-person movement and aiming.
