Two NES Classics on One Cartridge
Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt combines two of Nintendo’s defining early NES games on a single cartridge. A simple selection screen opens either the side-scrolling platform adventure of Super Mario Bros. or the light-gun target shooting of Duck Hunt. The games remain separate experiences; the value of the compilation is immediate access to both without changing cartridges.
Super Mario Bros.
Guide Mario through the Mushroom Kingdom, running and jumping across ground, underground and castle stages on the way to Princess Toadstool. Question blocks hide coins and power-ups, Super Mushrooms let Mario survive an extra hit, Fire Flowers add ranged attacks and Starmen provide brief invincibility. Pipes, moving platforms, hidden routes and time limits reward both careful exploration and confident momentum. A second player can join in an alternating format as Luigi, taking a turn after Mario loses a life or completes a stage.
Duck Hunt
Duck Hunt uses the NES Zapper to shoot moving targets on the television. Game A presents one duck at a time, Game B increases the pressure with two, and Game C replaces ducks with clay targets. Accuracy determines whether the round continues, while the hunting dog retrieves successful shots and reacts to misses. In the two-player option for Game A, a second participant can control the duck with a standard controller while the first player aims the Zapper.
Required for Duck Hunt: an original NES Zapper connected to controller port two and a compatible standard-definition CRT display. The original light gun depends on CRT scan timing and does not operate normally with modern LCD, plasma or other flat-panel televisions. Super Mario Bros. uses a standard NES controller and does not require the Zapper.
