The Surge
Survive the CREO catastrophe
The Surge puts you inside a sprawling industrial complex where a promising new job becomes a fight for survival. You play Warren, a new employee at CREO, a corporation whose technology was supposed to help save a damaged world. A disaster strikes on his first day, and he wakes up wearing a powerful exoskeleton in a facility overrun by malfunctioning robots, hostile augmented workers, and dangerous artificial intelligence. Finding a way through the wreckage means confronting both the machinery around you and the secrets behind the company.
Choose your target and fight for your equipment
This action RPG makes equipment part of combat itself. Target an individual enemy body part, damage it with vertical or horizontal attacks, then finish the encounter by severing the piece you want to salvage. An exposed limb can offer a quicker route to victory, while an armored section may hold a component for your next upgrade. Each encounter asks you to balance the need to survive against the chance to claim something useful.
Your own protection matters, too. The game's combat rules make unarmored areas vulnerable on both sides of a fight. Positioning, defensive movement, and stamina management help you stay close enough to strike the intended target without leaving Warren open to a damaging response. Even ordinary enemies can be dangerous, so observing their patterns and weaknesses is part of progressing through the complex.
Build a rig that suits the challenge
Salvaged weapons and modular armor feed into crafting and upgrades. Different weapons have their own movesets, while your exosuit and cybernetic implants offer ways to shape Warren's capabilities. Security equipment, industrial hardware, and more advanced technology provide different pieces to mix as your build develops. Learning an opponent can lead directly to an equipment goal, turning a difficult fight into a reason to rethink your rig.
An industrial drone adds support alongside melee combat. Its abilities can shield Warren or disrupt enemies with effects such as knockdowns, pulls, and blasts. It gives you another tool to consider when a straightforward exchange of blows is proving dangerous.
Learn the facility as well as its enemies
Exploration rewards looking for hidden secrets and returning to familiar areas for new challenges. The environment helps tell CREO's story while large industrial bosses test what you have learned. The appeal is the connection between combat, equipment, and exploration: study a threat, improve your build, and use that preparation to push farther into a complex that has turned against its workers.
