Toy Soldiers: War Chest (Hall of Fame Edition)
Plan the defense, then step into the battle
Toy Soldiers: War Chest turns a miniature battlefield into a mix of tower defense and direct action. Enemy toys arrive in waves, and your job is to keep them from reaching the toy box. You begin by placing defensive weapons in designated positions, but a battle does not end with that initial plan. Changing threats make turret choice, placement, and upgrades part of an ongoing decision about where your defenses need help.
The weapons include machine-gun positions, mortars, and rocket-launching units. Their different roles give you reasons to think about the approaching force rather than fill every position with the same answer. Watch where enemies are making progress, replace a weapon when another type would suit the wave, and strengthen a position before it becomes the weak point. That planning keeps the full battlefield in view even when the action grows busy.
You can also take direct control of a turret and aim its attacks yourself. This is where War Chest shifts from overseeing a defense to participating in it: your accuracy can help at the point under pressure while the other weapons continue their work. Taking part earns points toward calling your army's hero onto the field, creating another moment when personal action can change the course of a fight.
The original armies give those battles very different personalities. Kaiser leads a force inspired by military toys, while Starbright's colorful army brings fairies, unicorns, and teddy bears into the same contest. Phantom commands the futuristic Ghost Company, and Dark Lord's Black Dragon army draws on fantasy creatures. Their contrasting themes make the battlefield feel like an imaginative clash between toys from different shelves.
A campaign across 15 maps gives you a sequence of defensive challenges, while endless Survival mode shifts the goal toward holding out against the pressure. Play alone or join another player in local split-screen co-op. Sharing the defense creates room to coordinate which part of the battle needs direct attention and which positions need stronger support.
The Xbox One online services were retired by Ubisoft on September 6, 2020. This game should be purchased for its offline modes, including its solo campaign and two-player local co-op.
