Selling FAQs

Your Selling Questions, Answered.

Search for a question or choose a topic. Cash / Trade, contents, shipping, inspection, and collections are explained here.

Finding Items & Building Your List

Search, filters, barcodes, quantities, and saved lists.

How Do I See Every Offer for One System?

Choose the system from the visible menu or open Browse Systems. The selected system limits your search to that platform. Choose Search All Systems to search across platforms. Item Type can limit the results to games, consoles, or accessories.

Why Do the Same Games Have Different Prices?

Offers depend on the exact title, platform, edition, and contents selected. The same game on PS2 and GameCube can have different offers. Game Only, Game + Case, and Complete can also have different values.

Prices are shown for one item. The line total is the price per item multiplied by the quantity.

How Do Cash and Trade Change the Game Prices?

Cash / Trade is always visible above the Buy List. Cash shows money offers. Trade shows the 15% bonus as Zypher store credit. Both the browse toggle and the review payout cards update the item values, line totals, and saved payout choice.

Switch back to Cash to compare. The base cash offers are not changed by switching modes.

How Does Find by Barcode Work?

Enter the full barcode from the packaging, including leading zeros. The lookup uses known catalog matches for the title and platform. A successful lookup finds the listing, but does not add anything to your list.

Choose what is included and the quantity before adding. A barcode match does not confirm the condition, edition contents, or authenticity of your copy.

Why Can’t I Find My Barcode or Use Camera Scanning?

The barcode catalog does not include every game or release. A missing barcode match does not mean Zypher will not buy the item. Search by title and system instead.

Camera scanning requires browser support and permission. It starts only when you select Scan with Camera. Manual barcode entry works without a camera.

What If My Game or Accessory Is Not Listed?

Use Sell a Collection to send the title, system or model, condition, quantity, and photos or an inventory. The Buy List reflects current offers; another item’s listing is not a substitute for an exact match.

Wait for an approved offer and shipping instructions before sending unlisted items.

How Do I Add More Than One Copy?

Set the quantity in the Add dialog or change it with the − and + controls in review. The tool supports 1 to 99 copies per line. Adding the same title, platform, and contents combines the quantity into the matching line.

Copies with different contents should use separate entries. Describe which copies have faults in item notes. Use a collection inventory for larger quantities or a mixed lot.

Can I Edit or Remove an Item?

Use Edit in review to change the contents, quantity, or note. Use − or + for quantity changes, or Remove for a line you do not want. A brief Undo button appears after supported changes.

Editing the working list after submitting it does not revise the earlier submission sent to Zypher.

Is My List Saved on Another Phone or Computer?

Your working list and payout preference are saved in this browser on this device. They do not automatically sync to another device. Clearing browser storage, using a private window, or using another browser can remove or hide the saved list.

Printing or copying a list gives you a reference, but does not submit it.

How Do I Know My List Was Sent?

The success screen confirms that the submission was sent. “Saved here. Not sent yet.” means it is still a working list on your device.

If you see an error, keep the list and follow the error message. Check your email, including your spam or promotions folders, for next steps after a successful submission.

Can I Change My List After Submitting It?

You can edit the local working list, but that does not update a submission already sent to Zypher. Contact Zypher with the submitted-list details and the specific additions, removals, or corrections before shipping.

Your shipment should match the submission and instructions used for that shipment.

Do the Pictures Identify the Exact Edition I Own?

Pictures help you recognize the game. Match the listing’s title, platform, and edition text against the physical item. Do not use artwork alone to select a special edition, another region, a remake, or another platform.

If the exact version is not listed or the packaging differs, use the collection-review form with photos of your copy.

Contents, Condition & Hardware

Choose the right option and disclose known concerns.

Can I Sell a Game Without Its Case or Manual?

Yes, where the matching offer is listed. Game Only is the authentic disc or cartridge by itself. Game + Case is the game with its original case and cover art, but a required manual or other contents may be missing. Complete requires the original contents, including a manual when that title originally included one.

Read the Full Condition Checklist →
What If the Game Originally Had No Paper Manual?

A manual is required for Complete when the title originally included one. A game originally sold without a paper manual is not missing that manual. Check your exact edition’s original contents and note uncertainty.

Are Replacement Cases, Labels, or Printed Covers Accepted as Complete?

Do not assume that replacement packaging or artwork satisfies an offer for original contents. Describe the replacement parts and missing originals in your notes. Use a collection review if the contents do not clearly match the listing.

Can I Send Scratched, Untested, or Non-Working Items?

Disclose scratches, testing status, reading failures, hardware faults, and any missing parts. Do not select another listing to avoid describing a fault. Inspection determines whether the item matches the offer and its final value.

For an item that does not clearly match a listed offer, request review before shipping. Damaged and non-working items are not guaranteed a payout.

What About Sealed Games, Imports, or Special Editions?

Use the exact title, platform, and edition listing when available. If a sealed or imported copy, unusual edition, or special package does not clearly match an offer, send a collection-review request with front-and-back photos and a description.

A review request does not guarantee acceptance or a price.

Are Counterfeit or Reproduction Games Accepted?

No. Games must be authentic. Counterfeit and reproduction items are not accepted. Send photos for review before shipping if you are uncertain about the game, label, board, or packaging.

What Parts Should Come with a Console or Accessory?

Match the exact model and check the selected listing’s requirements. Include required cables, controllers, chargers, receivers, or other components. Note anything missing, third-party, or replaced.

Item Only and Complete refer to the hardware offer. A game’s Game + Case option does not apply to hardware.

What Do I Need to Remove from a Console or Handheld?

Remove personal accounts, files, saved payment information, passcodes, and parental locks before shipping. Remove any memory cards, storage devices, or games you do not intend to sell. Disclose locks, bans, or faults that cannot be removed.

Do not include passwords or login details in item notes.

What Details Make a Useful Condition Note?

Give specific details about missing parts, faults, or testing status, such as “manual missing,” “disc untested,” “left stick drifts,” “replacement cable,” or “label has writing.” Mention which copy is affected when sending duplicates.

Condition notes help Zypher understand your items; they do not guarantee acceptance or the displayed estimate.

Cash, Trade & Price Holds

Understand the bonus and what your estimate means.

What Is Trade / Store Credit?

Trade is digital Zypher store credit worth 15% more than your final approved cash value. It is a store-credit payout rather than a cash transfer. A $100 approved cash value becomes $115 in credit.

Which Cash Payment Methods Can I Choose?

Cash can be paid through PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App. Select a method in review. The form requires a cash method only when Cash is selected; Trade does not require one.

Follow the email instructions for any payment details Zypher requests. Never share your payment-app password.

Does the Trade Bonus Apply Before or After Inspection?

The bonus applies to the final approved cash value after inspection. If the approved cash value changes, the Trade amount changes with it. The displayed estimate includes 15% when Trade is selected.

How Long Are Submitted Buy List Prices Held?

Submitted Buy List prices are held for up to 30 days, subject to inspection. Browsing, saving a list locally, or requesting a collection review does not create a submitted Buy List quote.

Condition and contents must still match your submission.

Why Could the Approved Value Be Different?

Authenticity, contents, condition, cleanliness, and functionality are checked after arrival. Missing pieces, incorrect models or editions, damaged media, counterfeit items, non-working hardware, corrosion, contamination, strong odors, or locks may affect the final value.

Use accurate selections and disclose concerns before shipping.

When Will I Be Paid?

Payment follows inspection and approval. Submission, shipment, and carrier delivery are separate steps. The Buy List does not promise an immediate payout or a fixed inspection turnaround.

Check the email used for your submission for next steps and any requested details.

Shipping, Inspection & Rejected Items

We provide a free prepaid inbound shipping label with no minimum sell-list value. Pack carefully and wait for your label and instructions.

Who Pays for Inbound Shipping?

Shipping to Zypher is free. We provide a prepaid inbound shipping label with no minimum sell-list value, whether you choose cash or store credit. Submit your list and wait for your label and shipping instructions before sending your items.

Is There a Minimum Value for a Free Label?

No. We provide a free prepaid inbound shipping label for submitted sell lists with no minimum value. This applies to both cash and store-credit payouts.

Wait for your label and shipping instructions before sending your items.

Does the Free-Shipping Message Create a Label?

No. Submit your Buy List so we can provide your free prepaid inbound shipping label and instructions. There is no minimum sell-list value. Wait for your label and instructions before shipping.

Where Should I Ship My Items?

Use the shipping destination and instructions supplied for your submitted list or approved collection offer. If you do not have those instructions, obtain them from Zypher before shipping.

A collection-review request by itself is not an instruction to ship.

How Should I Pack the Box?

Use a sturdy box, cushion each item, separate heavy hardware from fragile game cases, and fill empty spaces so nothing moves. Protect original boxes, manuals, artwork, screens, discs, and cartridges. Seal every opening securely.

Use the prepaid label we provide and keep the tracking number.

Read the Full Packing Checklist →
Can I Add Items or Send Several Boxes?

Give Zypher the additions, changes, and number of boxes before shipping so the shipment can be matched to the correct submission. Unlisted items still need an approved offer.

Do not assume a saved-list edit changes a submitted quote or that a new box automatically creates a label.

Tracking Says “Delivered.” Why Is There No Payout Yet?

“Delivered” means the carrier completed delivery. The items still need to be matched to the submitted list, inspected, and approved before payment. Delivery is not confirmation that every item qualifies for its estimated value.

Will Rejected or Zero-Value Items Be Returned?

Items are not returned after inspection, including rejected or zero-value items, unless Zypher approves a return at its discretion and the seller prepays return shipping and any applicable handling fee. Any handling fee will be quoted before the seller agrees to the return. If the seller does not pay the return shipping or applicable handling fee, rejected or zero-value items will not be returned.

Only ship items you intend to sell. Resolve questions about authenticity, condition, contents, or acceptance before sending anything.

How Do I Check My Submitted List or Shipment?

Open My Sell Lists from the selling navigation or account menu and sign in with the same Zypher account used to submit. Select your submission to see its status, submitted items, messages, shipping instructions, and payout details.

If you need help, email Support@ZypherTrading.com with your submission reference and the carrier and tracking number for a shipment question. Do not include passwords or payment-app login credentials.

Collections, Files & Inventories

Use one review request for a mixed lot or items without matching offers.

Can I Send a Collection with Unlisted Items?

Yes. Use Sell a Collection to describe the games, consoles, accessories, systems, quantities, and condition. Include photos, an inventory, or a viewable collection link.

The request is reviewed before an offer is approved. Wait for an approved offer and shipping instructions.

What Information Does the Collection Form Need?

Enter an approximate item count, the systems included, and notes about condition and missing parts. Provide at least one useful item description, collection link, or file. Continue to sign in with your Zypher account and review the request. Your submission uses the name and verified email address on your Zypher account.

You can choose Cash, Store Credit (+15%), or Show Me Both as your review preference. Submit the request from the final review page to save the collection and follow its progress in My Sell Lists.

Which Photos and Spreadsheets Can I Upload?

Photos: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and HEIF. Inventories: Excel (.xlsx or .xls) and CSV files, including a PriceCharting collection export. A viewable PriceCharting or spreadsheet link also works.

The limit is 20 files, 15 MB per file, and 50 MB total. Review the selected file list and remove files you did not intend to attach.

What Should an Inventory Spreadsheet Include?

Use clear columns for title, platform or model, edition, quantity, what is included, and condition or missing parts. Separate duplicates when their contents differ. Include hardware and unlisted items in the same inventory where useful.

PriceCharting values provide context; they are not a confirmed Zypher offer.

How Do I Take Useful Collection Photos?

Start with a clear overall view. Add clear photos of the front and back of the packaging where edition or region matters. Include close-ups of damaged media, labels, cases, screens, missing parts, or unusual items.

Avoid unrelated private information in photos and make shared links viewable so the collection can be reviewed.

Does an Uploaded Inventory Mean I Should Ship Now?

No. Uploading files and sending a review request do not confirm acceptance, a price, or a shipping label. Wait for an approved offer and shipping instructions.

If a request reports an upload or submission error, follow the message and wait for confirmation that it was sent.

Before You ShipInspection, Returns & Fees

Items are not returned after inspection, including rejected or zero-value items, unless Zypher approves a return at its discretion and the seller prepays return shipping and any applicable handling fee. Any handling fee will be quoted before the seller agrees to the return. If the seller does not pay the return shipping or applicable handling fee, rejected or zero-value items will not be returned.

Check the exact item, contents, and condition before you send it.
