ATV: Thunder Ridge Riders / Monster Trucks Mayhem | Nintendo DS

Get ready for double the off-road motorsport action with ATV: Thunder Ridge Riders / Monster Trucks Mayhem for the Nintendo DS. This compelling compilation bundles two distinct racing experiences accessed straight from the main menu, giving handheld enthusiasts a robust garage of heavy-duty vehicles to master across rugged tracks and arenas.

In ATV: Thunder Ridge Riders, players strap into nimble All-Terrain Vehicles and tear across dirt tracks. The title features multiple ways to play, including Quick Game, Career Mode, and Timed Checkpoint challenges, alongside supported multiplayer options for competitive racing sessions. The dual-screen layout of the Nintendo DS puts your machine front and center: the top screen renders the vehicles and racing track from an engaging third-person perspective, while the bottom touch screen provides critical telemetry like standings, a live timer, and a mini-map of the course. Handling is refreshingly straightforward, relying on direct inputs for steering, acceleration, boost, brakes, and reverse. As you progress through Career mode, securing top finishes is vital for advancement. Along the way, racers can scoop up money icons scattered across courses to hit the Mod Shop, upgrading their ride with fresh tires, roaring engines, upgraded shocks, or potent turbo boosts.

Switch gears over to Monster Truck Mayhem, and the stakes grow massively heavier. This heavy-metal component shifts the focus entirely to monster truck racing, offering its own robust lineup of Quick Game, Career, and Multiplayer options. Drivers pick from various colossal trucks to compete across two distinct event types: traditional Track Races and the chaotic Crunch Melee, where the objective is to smash up more cars than the opposing competition. Utilizing a split-screen presentation mirroring Thunder Ridge Riders with familiar, intuitive controls, Monster Truck Mayhem challenges drivers to prove their worth in Career mode. Successful runs yield cash pick-ups used to overhaul your monster trucks in the shop with brand-new engines, stocks, tires, nitro boosts, and turbo boosts.

Whether you are shaving seconds off a checkpoint time on an ATV or crushing competing vehicles in a monster truck arena, this dual-pack delivers straightforward, high-horsepower thrills right to your palms.
