Batman Returns for SNES
Batman Returns adapts the 1992 film as a one-player action game developed and published by Konami for the Super Nintendo. Gotham is under pressure from the Red Triangle Circus gang, the Penguin's campaign for control, and Catwoman's shifting loyalties. The game follows the movie's winter setting through seven scenes, using large character sprites, dark city backdrops, and cinematic stills to carry the atmosphere between fights.
Street Combat and Gadgets
Most stages play as a side-scrolling brawler. Batman can punch, kick, block, grab enemies, and throw opponents into each other or into parts of the environment. The combat uses both the horizontal path and the depth of the street, so positioning matters when groups attack from multiple angles. Batarangs help interrupt distant threats, while limited explosive vials damage enemies across the screen. Boss encounters punctuate the stages with enemies that demand more deliberate timing than the regular circus thugs.
Varied Seven-Scene Campaign
The campaign changes its structure to match key sequences from the film. A grappling-hook stage emphasizes platform movement and careful positioning, while the Batmobile sequence shifts into a driving perspective through Gotham's streets. Catwoman and the Penguin provide central confrontations as Batman pushes toward the finale. These changes of pace keep the adventure from being a single unbroken run of street fights.
This SNES release is designed for solo play and does not include online features or local cooperative play. It is best for players who want a methodical licensed brawler with weighty throws, recognizable film locations, and occasional platforming and driving sections rather than a purely score-driven arcade experience.
