Far Cry New Dawn is a standalone first-person open-world action game set in Hope County, Montana, 17 years after the nuclear catastrophe that ended Far Cry 5. The landscape has returned in bright, overgrown color, but its survivors are under pressure from the Highwaymen and their leaders, Mickey and Lou. As the Captain of Security, you help rebuild a community, secure resources, and push back against the raiders across a transformed version of the county.
Open-World Combat and Stealth
Explore on foot or by vehicle, take on story missions and side activities, and approach enemy positions with direct gunfire, explosives, or quieter stealth tactics. Weapons range from conventional firearms to improvised post-apocalyptic designs such as the Saw Launcher. Guns for Hire and animal companions provide specialized support, giving you options for long-range attacks, heavy destruction, or close-quarters pressure.
Rebuild Prosperity
Prosperity serves as the Survivors’ home base and the center of long-term progression. Recruiting Specialists and gathering materials lets you improve its facilities, which in turn unlock stronger weapons, vehicles, gear, and ally capabilities. Scavenging is therefore tied directly to advancement: resources collected in Hope County and beyond feed back into the base and expand the tools available for later missions.
Outposts and Expeditions
Highwaymen outposts create focused combat spaces where reconnaissance, stealth, and improvised attacks can all work. Expeditions take the action outside Hope County to self-contained locations across the United States, including a ruined amusement park, an aircraft carrier, and Alcatraz. These missions revolve around infiltrating hostile territory, securing a valuable package, and escaping while enemy forces close in.
Solo Play and Online Co-op
The PS4 version supports a one-player campaign and optional two-player online co-op. Online play requires PlayStation Plus and a PlayStation Network account; no online access is promised with the disc itself. The standard physical edition does not include the extra weapons, outfits, or vehicle content advertised for the Deluxe Edition. Optional in-game purchases and separately sold add-ons exist, but this used listing does not promise any unused entitlement or bonus content.
