About the Game
Guitar Hero: Metallica builds a complete rhythm-game campaign around Metallica’s music, performance style and influences. Its 49-song set combines 28 Metallica recordings with 21 tracks chosen from artists connected to the band’s history and taste. Venues, motion-captured performances and archival material give the career a focused identity without reducing the game to a simple song compilation.
Performance & Progression
Players follow scrolling note charts on guitar or bass, match vocal pitch with a microphone, or perform drum patterns with a compatible drum controller. Star ratings measure accuracy and streaks, and earning enough stars opens later sets. The career can be played with a single part or as a band, while Quickplay makes the unlocked catalog easy to revisit. Multiple difficulty levels allow mixed-skill groups to perform together. The drum charting adds Expert+, an optional difficulty designed for two bass-drum pedals, and the Music Studio provides tools for building instrumental tracks. Battle play also returns with Metallica-themed attacks.
Wii Hardware & Current Play
The Wii edition works with compatible Guitar Hero guitar, drum and microphone hardware; the instrument required depends on the part being played. Local cooperative band play remains available on the original console, along with competitive score chasing and practice options for individual song sections. The game originally offered online competition and GHTunes sharing through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, but Nintendo ended that service on May 20, 2014. Those network features are no longer officially available, while the career, Quickplay, local multiplayer, training and creation tools remain usable offline from the disc.
