Armored Action on Nintendo Wii
Published by SEGA of America, Inc. and developed by Artificial Mind & Movement, Iron Man brings Marvel's iconic hero to the Nintendo Wii. Inspired by the 2008 blockbuster film, this third-person behind-view shooter casts you as billionaire inventor and industrial magnate Tony Stark. Captured by hostiles intending to coerce him into fabricating munitions, Stark devises an armored exoskeleton to stage his getaway. Vowing to abandon weapons manufacture, he dedicates his technical genius to refining the suit and eliminating the militant threats that menace global security.
Flight and Ground Combat Mechanics
Missions unfold across expansive environments where aerial dogfights and boots-on-the-ground battles merge into fluid action. Players begin sorties inside Stark's rudimentary escape prototype before suiting up in the refined gold and crimson Mark armor. Combat spans both flight navigation and surface movement, challenging you to manage thrust, maintain positioning, and alternate between close-range physical strikes and ranged ballistic assaults.
Extended Campaign and Comic Villains
The single-player campaign encompasses over twelve operations that broaden the narrative beyond the movie screen. In addition to confronting heavily fortified conventional opposition—such as foot infantry, combat helicopters, armored tanks, and fixed defense cannons—Stark must neutralize prominent comic-book adversaries, including Whiplash and Titanium Man. Story sequences appear between sorties, accompanied by voiceover work from film stars such as Robert Downey Jr. and Terrence Howard.
Arsenal and Weapon Systems
Offensive loadouts offer extensive tactical variety against varied battlefield threats. As Stark, you can target distant targets with repulsor blasts, trigger micro-grenades, launch guided missiles, unleash scorching bursts from a flamethrower, neutralize electronics with EMP charges, or focus energy into the devastating chest-mounted Unibeam. Every encounter encourages mixing close-quarters melee swings with specialized firepower to disassemble enemy fortifications and mechanized armor.
Usage-Based Upgrades and Armor Variants
On Nintendo Wii, character advancement is directly connected to how you fight in the field. Rather than accumulating credits or purchasing enhancements from a menu shop, suit systems improve organically through active deployment. Consistent firing of repulsors, frequent flight maneuvers, or repeated reliance on heavy shielding systematically level up those specific munitions, armor plating, and propulsion arrays. In addition, players can unlock special comic-inspired armor suits throughout the game.
Platform Presentation and Technical Features
Tailored for solo offline play on a single Wii Optical Disc, the release incorporates altered graphical assets crafted specifically for the console. Flight maneuvers, targeting, and weapon discharges utilize the combined Wii Remote and Nunchuk controller configuration. The presentation supports immersive surround sound using Dolby Pro Logic II alongside versatile video outputs, encompassing 480p Progressive Scan as well as standard PAL 50Hz and 60Hz display frequencies.
