Stranded on Adventure Island
JumpStart: Escape from Adventure Island begins when an exploration voyage in a blimp runs into a violent thunderstorm, sending the craft crashing down onto a remote destination known as Adventure Island. Finding yourself stranded on unfamiliar shores, your primary goal is to gather enough sand dollars to purchase the helium tanks needed to get airborne and leave the island behind. Before venturing into the challenges, players can personalize their character's appearance and attire. Navigated from a behind-view third-person perspective with real-time direct control, movement on the Wii Optical Disc release utilizes the Wii Remote alongside optional or supported Nunchuk input.
Story Progression and Practice Modes
The main journey unfolds across Story Mode, which leads you through a sequence of activities tied directly into island progression and the escape narrative. For focused practice or immediate replays, Practice Mode lets you jump into any of the available activities without working through the overarching storyline. This structure lets young learners revisit specific puzzles at their own pace or push directly forward toward repairing the damaged airship.
Educational Tasks and Sand Dollar Rewards
Across the adventure, challenges present multiple difficulty levels and focus on educational exercises spanning math, logic, reading, and writing. Activities require players to complete a designated task or arrive at the correct answer to an intellectual problem. Performance directly dictates your payout: standard completion awards white sand dollars, while hitting higher success criteria grants valuable gold sand dollars to speed up your blimp repair fund. The title supports 1 to 2 offline players, allowing family members or classmates to participate together. Developed by Knowledge Adventure, Inc. and Knowledge Adventure India Pvt. Ltd. and published by Knowledge Adventure, Inc., JumpStart: Escape from Adventure Island arrived on November 17, 2009 for the Wii.
