Step into the blood-neon halls of San Romero High School as Juliet Starling, a dedicated cheerleader with a devastating side hustle in undead extermination. Developed by Grasshopper Manufacture Inc. and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc., Lollipop Chainsaw drops players straight into a catastrophic school outbreak originating right inside Juliet's classroom. A disgruntled schoolmate has opened a tear to Rotten World—a dimension crawling with demonic entities and restless ghouls—leaving Juliet to slice through the horde and restore order.
Core combat hinges on three distinct offensive tiers that keep close-quarters skirmishes fast and flashy. Players unleash Light attacks featuring acrobatic kicks and punches delivered with pom-poms, pivot into Heavy attacks powered by furious chainsaw slashes, and build up Juliet's star meter to execute devastating Super attacks designed for clearing crowds and rescuing vulnerable classmates. Adding to the tactical chaos, Juliet carries the disembodied head of her boyfriend, Nick—bitten by a zombie and casually hitched to her skirt—who functions as a versatile projectile device. Players can even attach Nick's head to a decapitated zombie body, letting him roam and assist during sticky encounters.
As you hack through the undead, massacred foes burst into vibrant jets of light rather than standard gore. Taking down enemies yields valuable loot, including gold medals for boosting character stats and purchasing new signature moves, alongside rare platinum coins earned through skillful Sparkle Hunting or dispatching elite zombies. These spoils are spent at the in-game Chop2Shop.zom store as Juliet's chainsaw and combat skills upgrade with newly unlocked abilities over the course of her campaign. Your performance and choices ultimately dictate which of the two different conclusions—a good or a bad ending—awaits at the finish line.
Designed for single-player offline sessions on the Xbox 360, the production delivers crisp performance across HDTV 720p, 1080i, and 1080p display modes paired with immersive Dolby Digital audio. Support for Achievements and leaderboards ensures every high-scoring chainsaw massacre is properly tracked.
