Lost Planet 2
About the Game
Lost Planet 2 takes place ten years after the events depicted in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition . Thanks to Wayne's actions, the planet E.D.N. III isn't just a world of ice anymore. Many parts have already dried up.
Story & Setting
Instead, the campaign is fully focused on a cooperative experience, allowing up to four friends to engage in the fight for the planet.
Gameplay & Core Systems
The campaign is divided into six episodes, each putting players in the shoes of a different faction. While at first the episodes don't seem to be connected, it soon comes apparent that it is once again up to players to save E.D.N. As opposed to the first game, players aren't however roaming the levels alone anymore. If no humans are available, players can call up to three bots on their side. The basic gameplay remains the same as in the first game, meaning players take on both the Akrids and other humans in a third-person shooter fashion using different kinds of weapons including machine guns, rocket launchers and different types of grenades, although only two weapons and one type of grenade can be carried at the same time.
Standout Features
- NEVEC: The Akrid, although bothered by the heat, are still a very serious threat, and NEVEC is working on a new evil plan while the other factions are engaged in civil war over thermal energy.
- The available weaponry remains almost the same as in the first game with just a few mostly coop-centric additions like the shield.
- players have also once again access to a short-ranged grappling hook which can be used to climb up buildings or walls in order to overcome obstacles or gain an advantage over the enemy.
- Vital Suits: In addition, Vital Suits (mech-like vehicles) make their return in all forms and shapes, including a Vital Suit in which three characters can ride and shoot at the same time.
- T-ENG automatically replenishes the health bar slowly, or can do it faster when players activates the harmonizer.
- T-ENG can also be used to open the chests scattered around the map, mostly containing weapons.
- T-ENG: In addition, the players can spend T-ENG to keep friends alive, even when they are low on health.
- Activated through a Quick Time Event, these stations have multiple uses, serving as spawn points, enabling the mini-map and also being a source of additional combat points.
Modes & Ways to Play
During the course of the campaign, players unlock additional customization options for their multiplayer character, like additional weapons, a different armor or gestures. Besides the co-op mode, the game also features traditional multiplayer for up to 16 players including modes like deathmatch, as well as a training mode, in which players need to use all their skills to fulfill various objectives and earn medals.
Player support includes Co-Op, Free-for-all / One-on-one (VS), Team, and 2-4 Players.
Presentation & Atmosphere
Display support includes HDTV 720p, HDTV 1080i, and HDTV 1080p. Audio support includes Dolby Digital.
