About the Game

Naruto: Clash of Ninja turns the early world of the Naruto anime into one-on-one fighting on GameCube. Naruto Uzumaki wants to become Hokage, and his fellow young ninja and their teachers provide the cast for a series of direct character matchups. Instead of exploring an open world, you choose a fighter and settle the encounter through movement, attacks and special techniques.

The North American original has eight core characters, including Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi, with secret characters to unlock. Each fighter brings a recognizable identity to the battle, so choosing someone from the series also changes the special move you have available. Its compact roster makes learning individual matchups a central part of returning to the game.

Combat, Combos & Chakra

Basic punches and kicks, throws and character-specific techniques form the fighting system. You build attacks into combinations while trying to find an opening in your opponent’s defense. The action is framed as a duel, making the other fighter’s position and response the immediate problem rather than a crowd of enemies to clear.

Chakra gives those exchanges another layer. The meter fills as a fighter deals or receives damage, and a full reserve makes the character’s special ability available. That means a match has a rhythm beyond simply landing the next basic hit: you work through the ordinary exchanges while building toward a more powerful technique. The recognizable jutsu attacks give the anime characters their distinctive finishing moments.

Learning a fighter involves understanding that relationship between the everyday move set and the special attack. Training offers a place to work on attacks and combinations, while a human opponent makes the same tools part of a more reactive contest. You can concentrate on a favorite character or learn another fighter to approach the duel differently.

Story & Single-Player Challenges

Story Mode places fights within Naruto’s adventures, with scenes between battles connecting the encounters. It gives the matchups a narrative reason and provides a way to meet the cast through play rather than starting with a purely competitive session.

Other single-player options change the objective of those fights. Survival asks you to keep going through a succession of opponents, while Time Attack puts speed at the center of the challenge. Training removes the pressure to finish a campaign or beat a timed record, giving you room to work on the controls and move combinations. These modes use the same core combat for different purposes: following a story, testing endurance, improving speed or practicing.

Local Battles & Unlockables

Two-player versus matches let another person take the opposing fighter on the same GameCube. Both players act simultaneously, turning familiar moves into a contest of reactions and decisions. Versus keeps the focus on two fighters, with each player learning how to respond to the other character’s attacks.

Unlockable characters add to the roster as you work through the game. Away from a match, the gallery, character profiles and sound test offer ways to spend time with the game’s art, cast information and audio. They give progression an additional destination without changing the central appeal of learning and using a fighter.

Presentation & Playing on GameCube

Cel-shaded visuals give the fighters an anime-inspired appearance, and battle locations include familiar settings such as the academy and Ichiraku Ramen Shop. The character designs and special attacks keep the connection to the series visible while the duel remains the center of the action.

The North American GameCube package supports two simultaneous local players and uses a GameCube Memory Card for saving. Have a controller for each player if you plan to play versus matches. This release’s local fights and single-player modes do not need an online opponent or an online service.
