About the Game
NFL Street takes seven-on-seven American football out of the stadium and onto urban playing fields. NFL stars and legends line up without helmets in a game built around heavy tackles, trick passes and showboating. Each player works on both offense and defense, making the makeup of your seven-person team important on either side of the ball.
The smaller teams and stripped-back rules keep play moving. There is no kicking or punting, and penalties do not interrupt the action. Running, passing and creating space still matter, but the game adds exaggerated moves that turn an ordinary possession into a scramble of spins, pitches and hard hits.
Style Moves & Gamebreakers
Style is part of the scoring system that powers your team. Flashy runs, unusual passes and other showboat moves build the Gamebreaker meter. Filling it lets you trigger an advantage on offense or defense, making the timing of its use a meaningful decision during a close game.
You can also pitch the ball to keep a play alive when a defender closes in. A well-timed transfer may give a nearby teammate room to run, but attempting it carelessly risks losing possession. Choosing between a safer advance and a more elaborate play is part of the game's rhythm, especially when either team is close to earning a Gamebreaker.
NFL Challenge & Team Building
NFL Challenge gives the solo game a longer progression path. You assemble a created team and take on objectives against NFL opponents, earning development points and rewards such as clothing, logos and new plays. Some challenges ask for a straightforward win; others place conditions on the moves or types of plays you use.
Team development lets you shape the group around how you want to play. Because the same players defend and attack, an offensive specialist still needs to contribute when possession changes. Working through challenges and league opponents gives you a reason to improve your lineup instead of relying only on an established NFL roster.
Ways to Play
- Quick Game: choose a team, select the seven players you want on the field and get into a match.
- Pickup Game: build a lineup from a shared pool of NFL players and legends.
- NFL Challenge: develop your created team through goal-based games and rewards.
- Local multiplayer: play with up to four people on the same GameCube.
Urban Fields & Presentation
The eight urban venues affect more than the background. Different field dimensions and surfaces, including sand, dirt, mud and turf, encourage adjustments to your lineup and approach. Parks and enclosed street environments give the collisions and short-field play a different feel from a conventional stadium game.
Stylized player models, street clothing, animated celebrations and a soundtrack combining an original score with licensed music reinforce the game's personality. The presentation keeps recognizable NFL players at the center while giving their moves the exaggerated energy of an arcade sports game.
GameCube Requirements
The GameCube edition supports solo play and local multiplayer for one to four players. Each additional player needs a GameCube controller, and a GameCube Memory Card is required to save progress; the North American packaging specifies six blocks. This version does not support online multiplayer.
