Turn classic Pac-Man into an asymmetric party chase
Pac-Man Vs. rebuilds the familiar maze around two different screens. One player holds a Game Boy Advance and controls Pac-Man from the full overhead maze, collecting pellets and watching every ghost. The other players use GameCube controllers and see the action on the television from the ghosts' restricted viewpoints. That split in information creates the central contest: Pac-Man knows where the danger is, while the ghost team must communicate to surround a target they cannot always see.
Score as Pac-Man, then fight for the role
Before a match, the group chooses a target score of 7,000, 10,000 or 15,000 points. Pac-Man earns points by clearing pellets and can turn the chase around by eating a power pellet. A ghost that catches Pac-Man takes points and becomes Pac-Man for the next round, so the Game Boy Advance and controller change hands. Everyone is competing for the same finishing score even when several players are temporarily working together as ghosts.
Coordinate the ghost team
Each ghost sees only a nearby section of the maze on the television. Players can call out Pac-Man's position, close routes and force a mistake, while computer-controlled ghosts fill any unoccupied roles. The human ghosts still matter because contact lets a player take control of a nearby computer ghost, and capturing Pac-Man is the route to the better-informed GBA role. The result is less about memorizing a fixed route and more about managing incomplete information around the room.
A multiplayer-only GameCube setup
This release supports two to four local players and has no single-player mode. Play requires a Nintendo GameCube, the Pac-Man Vs. disc, one Game Boy Advance or Game Boy Advance SP, one Nintendo GameCube–Game Boy Advance cable and one to three GameCube controllers. A GBA game cartridge is not part of the documented setup; the handheld serves as Pac-Man's private screen. The game does not require a GameCube Memory Card.
