Classic Game Show Trivia and Board Action
Press Your Luck: 2010 Edition adapts the original format of the classic 1980s television game show Press Your Luck, recreating its recognizable flow and distinctive retro set styling in digital form. Developed by Ludia, Inc. and published by Ubisoft Entertainment SA, this release arrives on a single Wii Optical Disc and utilizes the standard Wii Remote for gameplay input. The title supports Progressive Scan (480p) output and carries an ESRB rating of Everyone.
Two-Phase Television Show Flow
Every match follows the televised competition structure across two distinct rounds, each broken into an opening question phase followed immediately by a high-stakes board phase. During each round's question phase, contestants are challenged with four multiple-choice questions. The player who rings in first and supplies the correct answer receives three spins, while the other two contestants each get the chance to choose from the remaining answers to earn one spin for a correct response, with incorrect choices earning zero spins.
Pressing Your Luck Against the Whammy
Once trivia wraps up, contestants proceed to the board phase to spend their accumulated spins and build up cash. The electronic game board randomly cycles through various spaces until the active contestant presses a button to freeze the sequence, collecting whichever cash amount is shown on the halted tile. However, danger lurks on the board: stopping on a cartoon Whammy immediately resets that contestant's bank to zero dollars. Worse still, accumulating four Whammies across the game instantly eliminates that contestant entirely.
This creates an intense tactical push-and-pull dynamic where players must decide how far to press their luck before dumping remaining spins over to a competitor, hoping to force that rival into landing on a Whammy. Navigating this risk-versus-reward mechanic requires balancing your bankroll against the threat of surrendering hard-earned cash or getting forced off the studio set for good.
Single-Player Progression and Party Mode
Solo players can dive into a full single-player mode structured across 20 distinct television shows. Across this campaign, contestants face off against varied opponents featuring increasing difficulty levels as they advance. For social play, Party Mode supports up to three contestants competing head-to-head in a shared episode. As contestants rack up victories, they unlock new hairstyles and costumes to customize their player avatars.
