Peter Parker’s film adventure
Spider-Man brings Peter Parker’s transformation into a superhero and his conflict with the Green Goblin to GameCube. The game uses the 2002 film’s world while adding encounters beyond its central storyline. Shocker and the Vulture join the threats facing Spider-Man, giving the campaign reasons to move between city rooftops, guarded interiors and large boss arenas. Peter’s powers define both how you reach an objective and how you handle the enemies there.
Swing, crawl and change your angle
Spider-Man can swing through the city, crawl over walls and ceilings and use a fast zip move to change position. Outdoor stages give those abilities room to work as you pursue or fight airborne enemies. Inside, a useful wall, ceiling or open space changes the way you approach a room. The contrast between skyline movement and enclosed environments keeps traversal involved even when the task is a fight rather than a chase.
Web-swinging also feeds into aerial combat. You can attack flying opponents with punches, kicks and impact webbing, bringing battles above the rooftops instead of leaving every encounter on the ground. On foot, combinations of attacks broaden Spider-Man’s options, and more combos become unlockable during the game. Learning those moves gives later fights more choices than the opening attacks.
Directed missions with different demands
The single-player campaign includes fights against groups of enemies, stealth sections and bosses. Outdoor objectives include pursuing the Vulture or Green Goblin, disarming bombs and dealing with flying robots. Stealth encounters allow different approaches, while boss battles ask you to read a particular opponent. These shifts change what a mission needs from Spider-Man: move quickly, find a useful angle, remain unnoticed or time an attack.
Progress follows a sequence of missions, with additional combat combinations opening along the way. The city sections offer space to enjoy swinging within that structure, rather than replacing the campaign with an unrestricted city adventure. Practicing movement and learning the expanded move list gives you more ways to tackle the next encounter.
Film presentation and GameCube play
The costumes, locations and Green Goblin confrontation connect the action to the film, while the additional villains extend the superhero story. Indoor arenas and open skyline stages give the campaign different scales for the same set of powers. The North American GameCube box confirms Dolby Surround audio support.
This release is for one player using a GameCube controller. A GameCube Memory Card is used for saved progress, and the North American package specifies two blocks.
