Four Spider-Men, four distinct action styles
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions builds a level-based adventure around four versions of Spider-Man rather than one open city. During a confrontation with Mysterio, the Tablet of Order and Chaos breaks apart and sends fragments into different realities. Madame Web recruits the Amazing, Noir, 2099 and Ultimate Spider-Men to recover the pieces before the empowered villains holding them tear their worlds apart. Each dimension has its own art direction, movement emphasis and combat identity, so the campaign changes tone without abandoning web swinging, wall crawling and acrobatic attacks. The story is structured like a comic-book crossover: separate episodes build toward one shared threat and allow each hero’s world to remain visually recognizable.
Amazing Spider-Man emphasizes acrobatic web combat
The Amazing dimension is closest to the familiar red-and-blue hero. Its stages combine traversal, arena fights and environmental use, with webs extending Spider-Man’s reach beyond ordinary punches and kicks. He can yank enemies, launch himself toward targets, bind opponents and turn nearby objects into improvised attacks. Air combos and web strikes reward movement instead of standing in one spot. The levels move beyond a single Manhattan street grid into larger themed environments shaped by villains such as Kraven, Sandman and Juggernaut. This dimension establishes the shared combat foundation before the other universes bend it toward stealth, speed or symbiote-powered aggression.
Noir asks for patience and control of light
Spider-Man Noir operates in a shadow-heavy 1930s world where direct combat is often the dangerous option. The player studies patrols, moves across perches and ceilings, and uses darkness to set up stealth takedowns. A visibility indicator helps show whether the hero is exposed, while spotlights and armed enemies make route planning important. If a guard discovers Spider-Man, escaping back into shadow can be safer than forcing a crowded fight. Hostage rescues and isolated takedowns give Noir’s missions a slower rhythm than the other dimensions. The monochrome presentation is more than decoration because pools of light communicate risk and determine when an approach is genuinely concealed.
2099 and Ultimate change the pace again
Spider-Man 2099 moves through a futuristic city filled with vertical drops, airborne traffic and high-speed hazards. Freefall sequences ask the player to steer through obstacles while chasing a target, and a brief accelerated-perception ability can make fast threats easier to read. Ultimate Spider-Man wears the black symbiote suit, turning crowded fights into opportunities to build and release aggressive energy. His rage state favors sweeping attacks against groups, but positioning still matters because enemies can surround him. Together, these worlds prevent the campaign from feeling like the same character with four costumes: movement, encounter spacing and the safest tactics change with the dimension.
Build a move set through the Web of Destiny
Each level includes Web of Destiny challenges tied to actions such as defeating enemies in particular ways, maintaining varied combos, finding collectibles or performing dimension-specific feats. Completing challenges and defeating opponents awards Spider Essence, which is used to purchase new moves and upgrades. The system encourages a broader attack vocabulary because repeating one easy strike is less rewarding than mixing fast and strong attacks, aerial techniques, webs and finishers. Alternate suits and gallery material provide additional goals, and harder difficulty settings support further mastery. Progress therefore comes from both story completion and demonstrating control over each Spider-Man’s specialized toolkit.
Boss fights are the campaign’s centerpieces
Villains reshape their episodes around a specific fantasy: Sandman fills environments with shifting hazards, Noir confrontations turn darkness into a weapon, and 2099 pursues enemies through futuristic vertical space. Boss battles mix normal traversal and combat with cinematic first-person sequences in which the perspective closes in on the opponent. ESRB’s exact Wii record specifically notes slow-motion effects and extended first-person pummeling during major confrontations. These encounters provide visual spectacle, but they also test the systems introduced in the preceding stage. Learning when to evade, web an opening or use a dimension’s special ability matters more than simply attacking until a health bar disappears.
Wii controls and solo structure
The Wii version uses a Wii Remote and Nunchuk for movement, web actions and combat. Its default arrangement can distinguish fast and strong attacks through controller position, while an alternate control option maps those attack types more directly for players who prefer button separation. Web swinging and web zipping carry the heroes between platforms, and motion input is used alongside buttons rather than replacing every action. This is a single-player, offline campaign; the accepted native record lists one offline player and the exact ESRB entry lists No Interactive Elements. There is no cooperative or competitive mode to promise, and no current online service is required.
Comic-book presentation and exact release details
Each universe uses a different visual language: Amazing favors bright comic color, Noir uses stark shadows, 2099 presents a luminous future, and Ultimate leans into the symbiote’s exaggerated movement. Distinct voice performances help separate the four heroes, while energetic music and villain-focused set pieces preserve the crossover atmosphere. This listing is the North American Wii optical-disc release dated September 7, 2010, developed by Beenox and published by Activision. The live UPC is 047875839687, and the exact Wii version is rated T for Mild Language, Mild Suggestive Themes and Violence. Other releases exist for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but their hardware presentation and downloadable offerings should not be treated as Wii features.
