A four-player TMNT arena fighter
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up brings the Turtles, their allies and their enemies into side-view arena battles for up to four local players. Fighters win by draining an opponent's health or knocking them from the stage, while items, moving scenery and environmental hazards can change the shape of a match. The accessible attack scheme leaves room for wall jumps, air dodges and other advanced movement once the basics are comfortable.
Fight through reactive stages
Basic and directional special attacks support quick combinations without long command strings. Stages are part of the action rather than static backgrounds: platforms shift, hazards interrupt positioning and some arenas move through several locations during a fight. Weapons and power-ups create opportunities to turn a crowded free-for-all.
Story, missions and unlockable rewards
Arcade mode doubles as the story path, beginning with Master Splinter's training tournament before Shredder and Karai disrupt the contest. Character endings provide a reason to replay it, while six recurring minigames break up the bouts. Successful minigames award shells that can be spent on character trophies.
Mission mode builds 50 objective-based challenges around tasks such as protecting a character, gathering pizzas or defeating enemies before time expires. Completing mission groups opens additional challenges and bonus material, including concept art and more minigames. The Trophy Room and Bonus Content menus collect figurines, artwork and movies earned through play.
Several ways to battle locally
Battle Royal supports four-player free-for-all matches with adjustable time, lives and item rules. Tournament organizes a bracket, Swap Out helps a group rotate between matches, and Practice provides a low-pressure place to learn attacks and movement. The Wii release supports Wii Remote and Nunchuk, sideways Wii Remote, Classic Controller and GameCube Controller configurations.
Comic-inspired action and rating
Characters draw from several parts of TMNT history, while fast animation and elaborate stage backdrops keep the focus on readable combat. The North American Wii release is rated E10+ by the ESRB for Cartoon Violence and Mild Suggestive Themes.
Current online status
Smash-Up originally offered friend-code and random online battles through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Nintendo discontinued that Wii service in 2014, so the original online matchmaking is no longer available. Arcade, Mission, Practice and local multiplayer remain offline modes. Controllers and any GameCube-controller-compatible Wii hardware must be supplied separately; no controller is promised with this copy.
