The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 | Xbox One

An unlikely reunion in Aventásia

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 returns to the fantasy world of Aventásia for an adventure built around characters, conversations, and puzzles. The earlier war may be over, but life has hardly become straightforward for its heroes. Now a strange magical force is changing the land in absurd ways: fearsome creatures become cuddly toys and imposing castles turn into oversized dollhouses. Wilbur, Ivo, Nate, and Critter reunite as the world's next unlikely rescuers.

The threat gives the story its distinctive mix of fantasy stakes and comedy. A world accustomed to great wars and dangerous magic faces something disarmingly pink and cheerful, while the returning heroes have their own unsettled lives to contend with. Following the four characters gives the journey several personalities and viewpoints instead of keeping every situation centered on one adventurer.

Conversations, objects, and unusual solutions

This is a classic point-and-click-style adventure from KING Art. Explore detailed scenes, interact with their inhabitants, collect useful objects, and work out how those objects can help with the problem in front of you. Progress comes from examining a situation and finding its logic, rather than treating every obstacle as an enemy to defeat. The multi-character structure carries that approach through the four protagonists' parts of the story.

The game contains hundreds of unusual puzzles, with optional puzzle chains alongside the main adventure. Those side challenges give curious players another reason to investigate a scene and spend time with its details. The appeal is in recognizing a connection: a conversation, an object, or a character's predicament may become the piece that makes an apparently strange solution fit.

A fantasy parody with a full cast

The humor draws on familiar fantasy stories and games, including The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Discworld, and World of Warcraft. The references sit within a story of its own, supported by both returning faces and new characters. It is a game for players who enjoy listening to a cast, exploring a setting, and taking the time to untangle an unlikely situation.

The presentation combines illustrated scenery and three-dimensional elements through projection mapping. An orchestral soundtrack by Benny Oschmann accompanies the journey, mixing returning musical themes with new compositions. That combination gives the world room for both its grand fantasy moments and its jokes, while conversations and puzzle-solving remain at the center of the experience.
