WWE rivalry and Revenge

WWE WrestleMania XIX puts WWE’s early-2000s roster into a GameCube wrestling game with a story that also takes the fight outside the arena. Familiar competitors include The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H and Brock Lesnar, alongside Goldberg, Scott Steiner and Rey Mysterio. Individual attributes and move sets distinguish the wrestlers, with power, strength and speed affecting how they perform.

Strong grapples, counters and targeted damage

Strikes and grapples have weak and strong versions: tapping a button produces the lighter action, while holding it produces the stronger one. Position also matters, with context-sensitive moves available near places such as the turnbuckles. Location-specific damage lets you concentrate attacks on an opponent’s head or limbs. Your wrestler’s available moves depend on the position and situation of the fight.

Countering depends on timing. On-screen prompts can help you learn when to respond, and experienced players can switch those aids off. Al Snow hosts a Tutorial mode that teaches the game’s moves, providing a place to practise before taking a wrestler into a match or challenging a friend.

Revenge, ShopZone and created wrestlers

In Revenge mode, Vince McMahon has expelled your wrestler from WWE, and Stephanie McMahon offers paid missions aimed at disrupting his business. The objectives take you into environments outside the ring, including the construction site for WrestleMania XIX. This story supplies a mission-based route through the game alongside its conventional wrestling matches.

Money earned through the story can be spent in ShopZone on items for your wrestler, including attire, weapons, moves and ability improvements. Create-A-SuperStar lets you build a custom competitor and adjust the moves and presentation associated with that character. Entrance customization reaches beyond choosing music: stage and ring taunts, walking animations and pyrotechnics can also be selected, giving your creation an identity before the bell rings.

Match formats and local competition

The match selection includes Singles, Tag Team, Triple Threat, Fatal Four Way, Handicap and Royal Rumble. Specialized rules add Hardcore, Ladder, Table, TLC, Cage, Hell in a Cell and Singles Ironman matches. King of the Ring provides a tournament bracket for singles or tag-team championships, so there are ways to organize a title contest as well as start an individual exhibition.

The presentation uses WWE arenas, wrestler entrances and music around the action. Nintendo World Report’s original GameCube review noted that some entrance themes differ from their televised versions, so the game reflects its own licensed soundtrack rather than reproducing every broadcast detail.

GameCube play and saving

The North American GameCube package specifies one to four simultaneous players. Play uses GameCube controllers, with local matches bringing several competitors onto the same console. A GameCube Memory Card is needed to retain saved data; this release’s box specifies 20 blocks.
